This is the best book on the Lord's prayer that I have sent and I've read quite a few. If I could get one book about the Lord's prayer I'd make it this one.

I lead my church group through Barclay's book, The Lord's Prayer, this fall. I had ordered Insights: The Lord's Prayer as an aid. Instead I received this book. At first I was quite disappointed. However, as I got into this little book, I found it a very nice summarization of Barclay's Lord Prayer Book. So, if you want a shortcut to understanding the Lord's Prayer, this is a good little guide to use. However, I'd still get and read his complete volume to get all the nuances.

Barclay had a unique gift of the ability to paint verbal portraits of Christ. In this particular text, he slowly reveals a deep understanding of the simplicity as well as the profundity of the Lord's Prayer. So often said, yet so little understood, one can read and reread this text and find the newness and beauty again and again. Special attention should be paid to the chapter..."Thy Will Be Done".

I had not imagined you could get so much from the Lord's Prayer. Barclay does it again; an insightful, thought provoking read. I would recommend this book to someone wanting to explore Christianity, or looking for more indepth knowledge. Well packaged and delivered quite quickly.
