Arrived the next day. For the price I was a little concerned that it would not work but it installed with no issues and works well. Wrote this with my new keyboard. the back light is good and and not patchy as some review pictures show. I would recommend it.

I bought this to replace the non-backlit keyboard in a Dell Latitude 5580 I am forced to use while my gaming laptop is down for repairs. I use my laptop a lot in low light conditions so having backlighting it pretty much a must have.Let me preface this by saying I used to work on Dell laptops as part of my job so swapping it out was not a difficult thing for me, but it's relatively simple anyway so if you are even mildly good with a screw driver you should be able to make the swap.Whether it's worth it or not is an entirely different question. The MSI gaming laptop I mentioned also has a backlit keyboard and it's truly "backlit" where the keys allow a lot of light thru so you can easily see them in the dark or low light condition. It is easy to see the keys at any angle. This keyboard as a lot of leds under the keys that shine through the spaces between the keys for the most part. If you are looking down on top the the keyboard it looks sort of okay, but it you are on a bit of an angle, which is the normal position, you see the not to evenly spaced leds and it's more distracting than useful. Yes it does make it possible to see the keys a little better, but it is hardly backlit.I was going to provide some pictures but another reviewer did that doing the comparison with an actually backlit keyboard and there is not much I can add.On the plus side it's a nice keyboard with a good tactical feel. My biggest complaint, aside from the backlighting, is the location of the Calculator key being right next to the Delete key. I often press the Cal and open up multiple calculator windows when attempting to delete lines of text.So if you are looking for a low cost, kind of sort of, backlit keyboard for your Dell laptop, this one is a low cost option, but don't expect too much in the backlit arena.

I ordered this since my keyboard started giving me problems. That said, this arrived as described, it was packaged well, and, best of all, it was a direct-fit replacement. I installed it immediately and figured the best way to test it was to write a review. So far, everything is working well, and I am pleased with it. I definitely recommend it.

Great product. I have Dell 7710, prefect match.

The trackpoint in the middle of the keyboard is defective. The cursor just goes wherever it wants without touching anything... I never use that anyway, so I just disabled it Dell settings... everything else is fine so not worth it to return. But, I wouldn't buy it again. It's a bright as is to be expected for a new keyboard in a laptop of this age. Wasn't thinking I was going to find a fully backlit keyboard for it anyway.
