I think the attachment issue has to do with the surface. You need a clean grease free surface. I used rubbing alcohol to clean the area I attached mine. The surface was painted metal and it was flat. It stuck very securely. You can't attach it to the insulation under the hood if it has it. It has to be a pretty flat clean metal surface.
