This thing is a beast. I went with it due to the large blade width and carbon steel. A blade like this is meant to be used with strong force. I would not advise using this to dice up a cucumber for instance. When you are cutting through bones you care more about weight, size, and durability. A lot of the other knifes I looked at had thin blades or were low quality steel. This thing delivers. I chopped up 10 pounds of chicken quarters in a couple minutes. Blade doesn't look dented and the heavy weight allows for some powerful blows. I cleanly cut through the chicken bones in 1-2 chops. If Chuck Noriss needed a choping blade, he would use this.

This cleaver is awesome! It has good weight to it so you know that when it comes down on something it is going to split. This cleaver is for real and is no toy. If you have something in the way, like your finger, it is coming off. Only wish it came with a sheath.

It arrived this morning after a shipping delay. It did arrive with a few superficial surface scratches; but nothing that would keep it from performing normally. The blade was not damaged and the handle had been patched with a wood filler and then stained. This is a quality meat cleaver and is heavy enough to take on big slabs of meat with dense bone. It is made from high carbon steel and has good balance. It needed extra sharpening but that is not a problem. I still recommend this meat cleaver if you get a new one- not one that has been refurbished. The grip feels comfortable. I wish it came with a sheath... 4 stars. On the box it says that its an 8lb cleaver. The box says 8lbs but the description says 2lbs. It feels heavier than 2lbs. I regard this cleaver as a tool not a display item for fancy cutlery. This will be a return to Amazon. The hole in the wood handle poses a problem which could get worse with usage; and finally breaking rendering the Cleaver unusable. Its not worth the risk. I changed my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars because of the damaged wood handle. Returned to UPS store following Amazon directions on 3/2/22.

I feed my dogs a raw diet that includes soft bones like turkey neck, duck wings, and frames. This cleaver goes right through all of them like butter. It makes meal prep so quick and easy. If you're a raw feeder, a cleaver is almost a must, and this one is one of the best I've tried.

This is maybe 10th butcher knife I had. I have been using it everyday for over a month and it become definitely a must in the kitchen for me. It is pretty heavy and very easy to hold so it doesn’t tire your hand. I constantly sharpen it but does not get dull easily. Handle is made out of wood. It is size and weight just right for most meat cutting. Let the weight do the job for you most of the time. I am happy with it.

The axe cleaver is great. It hacks through ribs without any problem. However, there are two things I dislike about this item and they are packaging the finishing. First the factory box is very flimsy. The axe came falling out of the box already(As you can see from the first photo). The good news is that it did not not cut through packaging (padded) envelop to pose any real danger. However, the potential risk is something worth looking into. The fit and finish on the handle can be somewhat poor compared to other knives in this price range. As you can see in the last photo. The metal tang is clearly not level with the wooden handle. The axe is quite hefty. My item got a 7.5mm thick spine and weighted 984g, sits well above the proclaimed value. It shows the manufacturer was not skimming on material. Knocked down two stars because of reasons described above. Overall it would be a great axe cleaver if you don't mind the details.

This is the best cleaver deal on the internet…The thickest blade too (8mm) and weighs 2 lbs. Buy it and skip the rest. Have a good one.

It is a bit pricey but totally worth it if you dont mind the heavy weight. Comes in a paper gift box with no shealth. Recommended to anyone looking for a heavy duty weapon for chopping bones and meat.
