I am thrilled with this essential oil’s scent and calming effects. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Earthy, pleasant, but not as distinctive as I'd hoped *by S***E on 22 November 2022* I’m using this essential oil in a diffuser and for aromatherapy, so I can’t comment on its performance as a hair growth tonic. The idea of a slightly balsamic scent sounded very appealing indeed, evoking thoughts of freshly baked bread and dipping vinegar on a cold Winter day, all very lifestyle-aspirational stuff that sounded very homely, and also something just a bit different. While the scent is homely, unfortunately it misses out on the ‘just a bit different’ side. I don’t really get the balsamic aroma notes very much, instead getting a more familiar smell that reminds me of varnished wood. It’s earthy, with a hint of heather. It’s a tiny bit sweet, and just a little bit chargrilled. It is a pleasant scent, but to me it is just a little too familiar, and reminiscent of the massive range of “gentleman’s beard oil” scents that have been very much in fashion recently. It’s old fashioned, and could at a push evoke thoughts of calm log fires. But it’s not very different. The oil seems to be of a good quality. It atomises and diffuses well, and it can fill a room reasonably quickly. The 10ml bottle and its dropper are the industry-standard sizes, meaning that it can be screwed directly into my diffuser without needing any transfer or mixing, which is a plus point (but true of almost all 10ml essential oil bottles I’ve found).
