I purchased the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk MAX WIFI for a Ryzen 5000‑series build, aiming for a stable, feature‑rich ATX board without moving up to X570. What I like: Build quality feels excellent, with solid heatsinks on the VRMs and M.2 slots BIOS was Ryzen 5000 ready out of the box, and setup was straightforward Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 worked immediately with no driver issues on Windows Plenty of connectivity, including PCIe 4.0 support and multiple M.2 slots 2.5G LAN is a nice addition and performs as expected Things to be aware of: The board is fairly feature‑dense, so first‑time builders may want to spend some time in the BIOS As with most ATX boards, clearance can be tight in smaller cases No PCIe 5.0 support, though that’s expected for the B550 platform After building and running the system for a couple of weeks, stability has been excellent with no crashes or odd behaviour. Memory XMP enabled without issue, and thermals have remained well under control even under sustained load. Compared to cheaper B550 boards I’ve used before, this feels more robust and better suited to long‑term use. Overall, this is a very strong B550 motherboard with a good balance of features, performance, and build quality. I’ve rated it 5 stars as it delivers exactly what I’d expect at this level and has been completely reliable so far.

Bought this to replace an older MSI board which wasn't faulty. Works a treat. Easy to fit, easy to set up. Lighting is excellent and controlled with the MSI App.

Worked perfectly out of the box with my 5700X3D Needed a BIOS update after installing, but could use the pc to download etc so no problem there Instructions were basic, generic, but if you're a competent pc builder its no problem, and if not you can look up a youtube video Motherboard automatically picked up my windows installation, even though it was in the 2nd m.2 spot Upgraded from b450 to b550, all same hardware, so didn't really need to reinstall Windows but it is generally good practice to

It caved in so horribly. The built-in WiFi adapter is beyond unstable and unbearably bad. The DHCP issues are out of this world how can someone make something so dysfunction.

Great quality and worth it for its value with good upgradability and straight forward installation

There is no screws in the box to mount it to my case, also no diagram of the motherboard how to connect everything up, also no drivers on usb or cd or anything.

Easy to navigate bios, well made and pretty heavy as well. Has some RGB at one spot but you can switch it off since some people don't like it anymore. The ports at the back usually have silver shiny metal plate look this is mat black and is and fits well with black case.

Fatta molto bene, sono riuscito a montarci tutto senza il minimo problema software o hardware, dotazione dei driver e bios sul sito del produttore ottima, c'era persino disponibile il bios aggiornato al 10/2025. Oltre a questo è anche bellissima da vedere. Azienda seria e prodotto serio.

Das MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ist ein Mainboard, das alle meine Wünsche erfüllt. Es verfügt über zwei Prozessorlüfteranschlüsse (oder 1 x Fan und 1 x Pump), sechs Gehäuselüfteranschlüsse, zwei M.2-NVMe-Steckplätze (einen Gen 4 und einen Gen 3), sechs SATA-Anschlüsse, hervorragende Spannungswandler und Kühler, vier RGB-Anschlüsse (zwei davon Rainbow) und eine dezente RGB-Beleuchtung an der (nach meinem Geschmack) richtigen Stelle. Optisch gefällt es mir insgesamt auch sehr gut. Der Bios Flash per USB-Stick vor dem Zusammenbau (nur das Netzteil angesteckt) hat auch problemlos funktioniert (hatte einen 32 GB großen und mit FAT32-formatierten USB-Stick. Die rote Diode hinten beim USB-Slot blinkt 5-6 Minuten, dann startet das Board neu).

The motherboard is quite good for a 5900X CPU. Temperatures are also important with idle and workload.
