Not what I thought, it was much better
I did not read the description very carefully. I thought I was getting blackout curtains. But instead, it’s a kit that you cut out the size of your window and includes stickers of velcro so that you can cover your window. I was amazed how well it works. It’s very thin and light and yet is very durable. It was easy to install and it would be perfect for anytime that you want to temporarily block out most of the light. I did not have any light shine through the material itself. The only light was from my lack of perfection in the cutting. I wish I had had this a few years ago when I worked at night. I was often sleeping during the day and light was a constant problem as well as heat. This would’ve been the perfect solution at that time. It only takes a couple of seconds to put it up (when you have it cut and velcro in their places) and not very long to take it down. I was concerned that the stickers for the velcro was going to create damage and leave residue. But I don’t think it would even on paint (but I did not test it either). I also cut out a piece for a window that is in my home office. Sometimes the sunrise is so bright even with blinds that it’s very disturbing. This will be a great solution for those mornings.

Easy to cut and install. Works great.
This stuff is fantastic. I used this first to black out a room I call “my day room” that I sleep in during the day after working nights. I did seal the edges with tape though for a total blackout effect.. the material itself won’t achieve this. I also purchased and used additional Velcro to ensure extra adhesion to the areas this material was applied to. Silver side blocks the sun like wonder woman’s bracelets blocked bullets. But the material doesn’t have the great looks and colossally excellent bodily appointments of the original Wonder Woman. But it’s magnificent at what it does. I also used this material to block out the sun in one bedroom that just gets sun blasted like the rays from the Death Star. I mean the heat in that room will make you want to put baby powder in your tighties to foil the evil plot of butt sweat. This material has tamed that beast. Easy to apply and enough material to completely cover all the windows in my rooms.

Strong odor
Works fine, smells awful. Blocks out all the light if you can position it well, and the variety of Velcro provided helps. But the smell is seriously bad. Strong plastic, chemical odor Edit: smell dissipated within a day; Velcro fell off of window.

Perfect Blackout Solution
I'm impressed with these blackout curtains! They're lightweight, easy to cut to size, and have strong self-adhesive pads that make installation a breeze. The included tape measure ensures a perfect fit. The curtains block out 100% of light, making them perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, or home theaters. They're also great for reducing energy costs by keeping rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The self-adhesive pads are easy to apply and don't damage the walls or windows. The curtains themselves are lightweight and easy to handle. I appreciate that the curtains are made from environmentally safe materials. It's great to know I'm getting a product that's not only functional but also eco-friendly. The fact that I can cut the curtains to size is a huge plus. It ensures a perfect fit for my windows, and I don't have to worry about ordering custom sizes. In conclusion, these blackout curtains are a great solution for anyone looking to block out light and reduce energy costs. With their easy installation, environmentally safe materials, and customizable design, I highly recommend them.

The Ultimate Portable Blackout Solution!
These portable blackout shades are an absolute game-changer! As someone who travels frequently and also needs to ensure a pitch-black room for my little one's naps, these have been a lifesaver. The 118" x 57" size is incredibly generous, easily covering even large windows. The 100% blackout material truly lives up to its name – once these are up, the room is dark as night, no sneaky slivers of light peeking through. Installation is a breeze. The temporary nature means no drilling or permanent fixtures, which is perfect for renters or when you need a temporary solution in different locations. They're also lightweight and fold up easily, making them ideal for travel. We've used them in hotel rooms, guest bedrooms, and even the office when an unexpected nap was needed! The quality of the material feels durable, and I appreciate that they don't look cheap or flimsy. They stay in place well once attached. Honestly, for anyone needing reliable blackout capabilities that are also portable and easy to use, these shades are a five-star must-have! I highly recommend them for baby nurseries, bedrooms, dorm rooms, offices, or anyone on the go.

Works great, looks trashy, smells like fish
These “shades” are one giant plastic tablecloth. One side is black, the other side is silver. They cut easily with scissors, Velcro seems good quality, and they block ALL the light. However, they look incredibly trashy from the outside. I did the first one with the silver side out but it looked so bad that I did the next one with the black side out. The plastic also smells terrible like rotten fish so I had to wash it first in the tub with dish soap. The smell was better but still lingered a bit. Definitely an effective, cheap option if you’re willing to sacrifice class while they’re up.

Easy to use, and helpful blackout shades
My kids need a dark room to sleep so we brought this with us when we went to stay at my friends hosue for the weekend. It was a little biger than the window, and since I wanted to use it on other trips, I didnt cut it to fit the window even though the instructions suggested doing that. The setup was pretty easy. I put the sticky tabs around the frame, added a few to the shade, and then hung it up. The next morning, even with the sun coming in early, the room stayed pitch black and let the kids sleep in. Having the room stay dark so the kids could skeep and not be cranky during the day made the stay a lot more fun for all of us and so I’m glad we made this purchse, it really did the job well.

These get the job done!
These are not exactly "shades". "Shades" implies it hangs from a fixture, and these don't. (I'm neurodivergent, so language details matter to me.) It is one big piece of material (which seems to be a thin plasticized fabric), black on one side, and silver (not shiny, though) on the other. It's big enough to cover around 4 medium-sized windows, I estimate. My two windows are 52" X 31", and I used just under half of the sheet provided. You know that old saying, measure twice, cut once? It's true, but it sure would help if there were some way to get the folds out of the sheet first. I did okay, because I have a really large cutting mat to spread it out on, and metal yardsticks to flatten it out with, but it was NOT an easy job because I didn't have a table available to work on. I had to lay everything out over the foot of my bed to get it done. To the older folks out there, or anyone with back issues - don't bother with this unless you have a decent-sized table or large counter to work on. Anyway, with that said, these DO block the light out completely, as long as you can manage to seal off the edges. It's Fall now where I am, so I can't say how good they are at keeping heat out. Maybe I'll return to this review and edit it next summer when I find out. The velcro dots stick VERY well, so make sure they are where you want them before you put the panel up. Frankly, the material is lightweight enough to only need half a dot every 4 or 5 inches at the top, so that's what I did - cut most of them in half. They're about 1 and 3/8 inches or 3cm in diameter, so they're definitely big enough. They will gum up your scissors, though, so be prepared for that if you decide to cut them. Have some Goo-Gone or other adhesive remover ready to clean them with if you want to use them again. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase, and will likely buy this item again if I end up needing more. And I think it turned out better than actual curtains would have.
