Great gyroscope
Works well if you know how to use gyroscopes

Though it is said to be a toy but I am 20 now and I love playing with it
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to have this for a long time but I couldn't find it in Nepal but when I came to US. This was one of the first things that I ordered from Amazon. Though it is said to be a toy but I am 20 now and I love playing with it. It seems to defy the gravity. This came in a plastic box but it was what I expected it to be. It didn't came with a string but it's not a big deal as you can use any thread to spin the wheel. It make little noise while spinning but it is neglible.

What is old is new again!
Bought these for all the grandkids for Christmas. It was funny to see all the puzzled looks as they opened them up and one even declared that he thought he had received a present that wasn't "all there". When we finally showed them how they worked, they were fascinated. My husband then explained how many everyday items contained gyroscopes of one type or another (segways, etc.), they could actually relate. While they didn't play with them for hours, they certainly considered it one of their "fun" gifts.

the magic is gone.
purchased for a grandchild. she won't be getting this one. since several reviews were critical of it, i tried it out. it vibrates too much to do any of the things that kids find magical about such a toy. it will stand on a solid surface and spin (loudly) .i turned it slowly and could easily see that the wheel and shaft are not aligned properly. any other '"tricks" not gonna work. it nearly growls and cannot perform other balance acts that i remember from a toy i had in the 1950s [string, pencil, the cone, etc.] too bad.

It worked great the first few tries
My 10 year old was really excited about getting the Gyroscope. It worked great the first few tries. I think the string is comes with is a little cheap though. Some of the fibers from it keep getting stuck causing it not to be able to rotate fast enough. He liked it up until that point. We're still trying to use tweezer's to get out the fibers.

Gyroscope
This was exactly what my grandson wanted, and he is 12. Probably the same age as I was when I had mine. Glad to see there are still toys out there that don't involve electricity!

Just Fun
reliving childhood... my dad gave me one of these when I was just a slip of a lad... 50 years later it still fascinates me

Too cheaply made and unbalanced.
Too cheaply made and unbalanced. I was excited to find a Made in USA product for my kids to play with. Imagine their disappointment when they couldn't do any of the traditional gyroscope balancing tricks, because of uncentered axes both of the units I received wobbled badly enough to make playing with them less than uninteresting. I had one of these when I was a kid and it was better made and balanced than this. Disappointing, Two stars for Made in USA, only two because we're capable of much better craftsmanship than this.
