Review: Was this a gamble? Yes. Did It work? Also Yes. - Let’s be real. If you’re dealing with rust this bad, you’re probably in for some frustration. A full repair usually means cutting out metal and welding in a new piece, which isn’t exactly a casual weekend project. Enter these Bondo Self-Adhesive Body Patches. Without them, my repair simply would not have been possible. Stronger Than You Think (With the Right Filler) If you’re worried about durability, don’t be. When paired with a high-strength filler, this patch doesn’t just “hold up.” It reinforces the repair to the point where it’s as strong, if not stronger, than sheet metal. The patch gave me a structure to work with so I could push filler deep into the area, making the final result solid. If you’re using the right products, this isn’t just a temporary fix. It’s a legit repair. Adhesion Could Be Stickier, But It Works The patches do have an adhesive backing, but I wish it had a bit more grip. Something a little gooier would have made placement easier. If your surface is less than ideal, and mine was far from perfect, you can still make it work, but you’ll have to finesse it. One trick is weaving multiple patches together to reinforce the structure before adding filler. Will This Work for Your Repair? My rust spot was massive, probably pushing the limit of what this product was meant for. Almost too big, but not quite. Ideally, you catch rust sooner than I did, but even for larger areas, layering multiple patches can absolutely work. That said, placement matters. If your rust is in an area that’s impossible to place a patch on properly, you might have a problem. But since these are super cheap, it’s worth buying some just to see if they’ll work for your repair. Worst case, you’re out a few bucks. Best case, you avoid welding and a massive repair bill. Bondo Compatibility is Perfect The Bondo stuck to this like a dream. I was able to layer it on smoothly and even push it deep into the problem area for extra strength. Without these patches, there would have been no way to make this work. Final Tips & Thoughts • Reinforce by weaving patches together. This helps create a stronger structure. • Test fit first. Since the adhesive isn’t crazy strong, positioning is key. • Use a high-strength filler. Regular filler alone won’t be enough. (I reviewed the one I used, so check my profile if you need recommendations.) For small-to-medium rust repairs, this is a game-changer. For bigger spots, you’ll have to get creative, but with patience, it can work. If I managed to pull this off with zero experience, trust me, you can too.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how many patches in the packet? Walmart has same size packet with 2 patches**
A: this packet has 2 patches as well.

**Q: Will this ahead to concrete?**
A: Thanks for asking. The Bondo Self Adhesive Body Patch has a very low tack adhesive and will not permanently bond to concrete. We would like to know more about your application. Please contact us at 877-666-2277 option 2 so we can gather more information.

**Q: Can I use this to repair the bottom of a metal rusted out area of my garage door?**
A: absolutely! Be sure to clean out the rust first and follow the directions.

**Q: Will this work for repairing the end of a fiberglass pole w/bondo?**
A: It would have to be big enough to cover the hole. I would recommend using Tiger Paw adhesive and using a nail through center of the patch. The Nail to go in from the inside face of the patch to protrude toward you.. Push the patch in to the hole and pull against the inside edge which you have previously applied the Tiger Paw. When you have the patch as even as possible to the pole's shape Let it dry 30 - 60 minutes. Then apply the bondo let it dry for 30 minutes or more and sand it down to your desired smoothness. If the pole is a fine finish you may have to gradually raise the sanding disc from 220 to 600. Hope this helps. Ed

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great but adhesion could be better
*by R***B on March 28, 2021*

So I had to rebuild the wheel well on my 02 Silverado due to rust. The rust ate through both the seam of the inner wheel housing and the outer bed panel where they come together and are welded. This is a common problem. If enough of the seam can be salvaged and treated with rust converter, you can use these patches/mesh to rebuild the seam and repair the entire damaged area. I used the old structure as a scaffold to hold the patch/mesh after I used a straight edge like a right angle ruler to recreate the seam. It worked great. Then I used the vertical flange of the new mesh to stick to the inner vertical wall of the wheel well until I was able to use fiber glass to hold it in and start the reconstruction process between the fiber glass and filler: fiberglass for the primary filler and structure rebuild and filler for 1/4" or less resurfacing for painting. I created a how to do video on youtube. The job came out great and saved me from having to purchase GM only supplied bed panels priced at $1200 each and wheel wells at $400 each. The only complaint I have is that the patches are not sticky enough to hold on to anything. So it was a waste of time to add this feature. The sticky side should stick to most anything to add value.
