Are these rings steel or aluminum?

"Each ring is precision CNC machined from sintered steel technology, a process that allows intricate steel parts to be formed and then fired - retaining the strength properties of steel while adding the necessary ductility that scope mounts require for perfect grip contact around the circumference of the scope. How high do these sit off the rail? Can I mount a 50mm optic on these rings?

It will not work with a 50mm objective on a full length top rail such as on modern sporting rifles such as an AR15/AR10, Ruger precision rifle, or a Barrett (what I tried mounting on). Would need to just be a short length rail like over the action on a bolt gun with then a drop and some relief at the barrel in order to clear

The description says 30mm but when I put it into my shopping cart it says “40mm”.. which one is it?

Not familiar with any 40mm tubes. I ordered for a 30mm and 30mm arrived. Don't know why description comes up that way. I just ordered another.

Would size medium for on 50mm objective ? Flat top rail on ruger precision rifle?

i would imagine not with that flat pic rail running all the way down. I would probably start with their high rings, also maybe dependent on tube size 1" vs 30mm. I run their low rings on traditional bolt action where the barrel contour is a bit lower than the receiver with a 30mm tube and 44 objective and is a finger nails gap between. I think the medium will jam you up. One last though order the medium and high, start with the high and send back the medium if all fits well. You could always sell the rings for close to what you paid? Lastly since you can adjust comb height in the ruger it makes sense to get the high because you can always adjust your stock up a bit more.
