It retails for $2.60-$2.70 per box, even at the little country grocery store where I shop. This is a rip off. I thought I had bought MCP originally, but I bought surejell. Surejell you have to cook on the stovetop, while MCP you can just mix in. I made two batches of strawberry freezer jam using Surejell and neither set. I measured and followed directions exactly. I remembered this version is not always successful. I looked for MCP in several stores, but could not find it even though it’s supposedly available. Amazon to the rescue! I added some lemon juice (since MCP needs it and the original Surejell did not) and followed the instructions for “if your jam didn’t set.” It was still syrupy but the next day it was set. Yippee!! Every time I have used MCP the jam has set. It’s so much easier to use and more successful than Surejell.
