I have loved my sunglasses and take care of them for this reason. However, overtime one of the lenses has developed a dark black cloud.Is this normal?

Nope -There is nothing normal about it. These are low-quality molded , not ground lenses. I regret the purchase.

No, they are high quality hinges with firm screws.
