The padding is soft so there's no risk of snapping your tiny storage cards taking them in and out. It's a good, small case if you don't have an abundance of SD cards to store. These are nice solid cases. Hinge and latch use pins instead of flexible plastic so they should last a good while. Gasket is well fitted. I bought one each of the 12 slot (8 micro / 4 standard SD) and the 16 slot (16 micro SD). I did make a field modification to them since the only need I had for standard SD an adapter. I removed 1 foam insert from each case and swapped them. I now have space for 14 micro SD's and 2 standard size slots to carry an adapter. Work very slowly and the foam insert will come out with most of its glue intact.
