The best
The best way to determine a candy's popularity is to share it at home or at work. I brought in Mary Jane's, Squirrel Nut Zippers and Long Boys Coconut. Squirrel Nut Zippers (SNZ) were popular in their own right but some of my coworkers had dental issues and were afraid of them. Mary Jane's (MJ) were O.K. but many complained of the excessive molasses in them. They said MJ were O.K. when they were much younger but now they wanted something different. I brought in a container of Long Boys Coconut (LBC) and I was told I hit the jackpot. LBC were popular for many reasons. LBC has real coconut that is rare in candies today. There is no molasses in them which weighs down the peanut butter flavor found in MJ. Since LBC are tube shaped, a person can bite off as much as he or she wants instead of having to deal with a chunk of candy that a person needs to work at before it's all gone. Finally, LBC can be enjoyed in the summer. They are not sticky like MJ and SNZ. Everyone at work, including myself never heard of LBC until I brought them in to work. LBC are originally a New Orleans candy. My sources on the web tell me that LBC were first produced in the '50's. My area of the country has Hershey chocolates and Mars candies that compete heavily. Taffy type candies are virtually unheard of in this neck of the woods. My hope is that LBC becomes a staple in the Northeast. It's really a treat.

It’s Was Ok
The candy was good, it taste like the original from when I was a child. The quantity was lacking. This order did not come in the container. It was in a plastic bag. I’m not sure what happened but the packaging was done with low quality of care.

Label your display
These are delicious. If I had it to do over, I would put a label with "Caramel Coconut" on it. People didn't know what these were and with the low lighting, it was hard to read the individual labels. They are delicious and a fun, old-fashioned, candy to put out.

Very Good Candy
This candy is very good, especially if you like a carmel and coconut taste combined, this candy is a lot like a tootsie roll but with the afformentioned flavors instead of the chocolate flavor. This item was reasonably fresh and seemed to be a good value for the price.

maybe old?
The texture is hard and grainy unlike when they are fresh and chewy. They did arrive in a sealed plastic tub - I will not buy these here again.

They're Grrreat!
Yummm, these little coconut candies are the bomb! I've bought them for myself and as gifts for others. The ones I've gotten have been fresh and wonderful. The secret, I've mastered these, is to unwrap them, bend them in half and put it all in your mouth. Now, wait a few minutes and the candies starts dissolving and becomes very soft and chewable. It's a happy place. Go there yourself and see what I mean.
