I crochet and knit A LOT. I bought this because I'm working on a project with a spool of #5 crochet thread. I needed something that was weighted and stable so the spool would spin without the apparatus moving. This is perfect. The only problem is that the screw in the base loosens with use. I suspect even if I were using it to hold paper towels, it would do the same thing. Not a deal breaker, just a mild pain. Other than that, it's great. Just heavy enough, foam on the bottom so it doesn't slide, and very sleek.

Feels light and unstable, the screw at the bottom makes it impossible to stay flat on the surface. It is the budget airline of paper towel holder.
