Very Good Tool - Worth Every Penny
I was meaning to fix the 'Ball Float Valve' in the loft for a while now.. the overflow has been dripping for quite a long time and was causing a puddle outside... so I tried some spanners to undo the nut connecting the cold water to it, but it needed more of a leverage/grip, and I didn't want it slipping and the nut getting 'rounded' off.... So I ordered this '9" Footprint Pipe Wrench' - because I thought I'd pay a bit more and buy a 'Quality' plumbing tool from Amazon... it arrived the next day, and yes, it really is a Fantastic tool.!! At first glance, and certainly looking at the images as advertised, it looks really flimsy and seems like it wouldn't be able to handle any real tough work assigned to it - but although this pipe wrench is a simple product (invented in 1875), it feels great in the hand, well balanced, feels solid, and really works brilliantly - I easily got the nut undone, and used a 'Ball Valve Repair Kit' to fix the problem very quickly with the help of this tool (please see pictures) - it's one of my favourite tools now - and what a joy it is to use and own...!!! - a satisfying feeling when you have the best tool for the job.. And so, as soon as this tool arrived, I thought: "About the woodlands I will go, to see the Cherry, hung with snow.." I mean: "it's up to the loft I will go, to fix the Ball Valve, that's dripping slow." (I love the poems of A. E. Housman) That's the next thing I'd like to order from Amazon, a 'Hardback' version of his book...

Just buy one
Old school tool that I love! Inherited one of these from my dad a long time ago and needed a slightly larger one so had no hesitation picking this up and I'm glad to say they've stuck to the tradition and in the correct usage cases this is a great tool - love it

An excellent tough and practical tool for real world situations. Do not be fooled by its antiquated appearance.
I used this to help me replace 9 radiators in my house. It was suggested as indispensable by a plumber on YouTube. Well, don't be fooled by its antiquated look, it is a tremendous tool. Gripped valves so I could tighten/undo the nuts on them with a spanner without stressing the pipework, and it was the only thing I had that could actually fit into a tight space to tighten some nuts up, which it did without slipping. Grips very hard indeed, and the wedge shaped "tool" at the bottom of the handle was surprisingly useful - used as a wedge to keep old pipes away from walls when soldering, levering things, unscrewing big radiator plugs etc. etc. I'm pleased I bought this one with the screw in nut - on a few occasions I slid out the head part to use it as a wedge by itself. And it is made in England! My friend who helped me was so impressed that he's bought one for himself - the "omni-tool" as he called it.

Robust , Tight Grip And Quick In Use
Really sturdy tool. Leave it on second hole and it’s ready for use on 1/2” and 3/4” plumbing fittings - really quick and easy unlike water pump pliers that always need setting to right size before use. Can pick up single handed and start work. Seems to have compact size of pliers but with strength of Stilsons. Will last forever. Made In Britain is the icing on the cake.
