The drive’s ability to handle up to 180TB per year highlights its durability and suitability for 24/7 surveillance environments. Installation was straightforward, and the drive has exhibited consistent performance since integration into my surveillance system. It operates quietly and remains cool, which is crucial for systems running continuously. Easy install to CCTV recorder
I bought this to replace a failed hard drive in my Alien CCTV digital video recorder. I could see a live view on the CCTV but there were no recordings. The old hard drive was 500GB so I went for the 1TB to double the recording capacity. Installation was very easy as the position of the mounting screw holes on the underside of the hard drive matched the holes in the base of the DVR. Just two ribbon cables to plug into the hard drive and after formatting, which was automatic and took about five minutes, it was all up and running and working perfectly. CCTV fixed next day and upgraded to double recording capacity for less than £44 when an engineer call out could easily have been three times that plus the cost of the hard drive. Very happy indeed, thanks Amazon!

Runs very hot
Bought this for a four camera 1080p CCTV system. Seems to be working ok with the two cameras so far set up, but I am a little concerned by the very hot temperature that this runs at. I have raised the DVR further off the desk and intend to install a fan in the unit. Previously I had a 720p system with a 2.5" 1Tb HDD installed from an old laptop which would only get warm to the touch. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Genuine Item, be warned many others are FAKE
This was a genuine item. Two I previously bought from elsewhere were FAKES, confirmed by Western Digital. If you're buying a WD hard disk make SURE you register it on the WD site BEFORE you open the packaging around the actual item, you can read the serial number through the pack, if it won't register it's a FAKE.
