Briton 121CE.SES CE Closer: Fixed Size 3 for Fire Doors, Silver

Briton 121CE SES size 3 door closer: Bought this as previous door closer gave up after 28 years. This Briton model is heavy duty and you immediately notice the quality. There is a paper template which I attached by tape to the corner of the door and this indicates where to drill 4 holes. I used and B&D but you could use a hand tool. The top part of the device comes apart for ease of fitting and it is bolted to the top of the main unit. The top arm of the pivot is screwed to the door frame exactly 50mm from centre of the screw position on the main unit. The template shows you where this is screwed so simply study the template and follow it. The two halves of the pivoting bar are then cliked back together again and hey presto apart from fitting a plastic cap over the lower bolt of the cam the job is done. You can adjust the pressure of the cam but I found it was ok and its a brilliant piece of kit. Made such a difference

We fitted this to stop a door slamming in the wind...... The instructions took so time to work out and it didn't really state how to adjust the closing speed etc, but once fitted the product works well. We did fit it on a utility door and my wife has commented that its a but stiff to open, but I find it ok. Only down side is she now wants a door wedge so she can wedge it open as she gets fed up of it opening and closing...... "just no pleasing some people" :-) Quick update, we’ve now fitted magnetic door opener, which in conjunction with this closer works brilliantly.... we can now have it closing automatically or leave open if we are using the door a lot..... everyone’s happy now😁

What a super purchase . No more door banging , I only wish I installed it years ago. I looked at a YouTube video , this made choosing the correct installation method easier and it only took 10 minutes to install , absolutely brilliant in every regard. Very happy customer

After installation, a creak started during closing. There's no amount of oiling or adjusting will fix this, so we're stuck with it. It is, however, a really good closer, which is consistent and accurately closes a fairly heavy front door. That creak is a pain though!

A straight swap for an older version of this model .A nice sturdy product that will hopefully last the 26 years that the previous one did .

Maybe it's just me, but I have followed instructions easy to fit, but nearly takes you out as it what's shut, could take the cats head off, I have turned the setting screws this way and that way, a bit, and a lot, carefully, and thoughrally. Bought to ensure the eatery door gets closed, and doesn't let the cold into the house. It definitely does that job, but I think the kids are so cross with the door, that they want to leave home! It's worth a try!

Excellent value, a well designed solid product. Definitely not too much resistance in my opinion and the included template for installation is genius. All in all took me 20 mins to fix by myself. No messing around I just drilled guide holes on the template where marked and voila. Works perfectly.
