Works well and good value for the price, useful facility to shred dvds . Will do 8 sheets at once but gets warm if you do . No jams so far but time will tell

The Amazon Basics 7–8 Sheet Strip Cut Shredder has been exactly what I needed for clearing out old paperwork and keeping things tidy. It shreds up to 7–8 sheets at once (as advertised) and handles staples and small paper clips without a problem, which is really handy. Setup was super simple — just plug it in and you’re ready to go. The unit feels sturdy enough for regular home use, and the waste bin is a decent size, so I don’t have to empty it after every session. It’s not silent, but the noise level is totally reasonable for what it is. The strip-cut style isn’t the most secure for sensitive documents compared to cross-cut models, but for everyday personal and office paperwork it gets the job done. Overall, a solid, no-nonsense shredder that’s easy to use and excellent value for money.

This Shredder doesnt clip on or sit snuggly on the bin provided, So there also isnt a saftey switch like other models have that stops the shredder from being used if its not on the bin. However the mechanics are not exposed from the bottom so i would stay this is a added benefit, I can just prop the shredder on top of any other bin/box and use it as needed. Even if the box im using is wider than the shredder i can pull the handle out to keep it stable. There is 4 modes. the first is actvated by the additional button, for cutting up CDs by insterting them into the slot under the liftable door at the front. the rest are selected by the 3 way switch. In the middle is OFF so the shredder is out of use. To the left is AUTO mode, this activates the shredder when you insert paper and it touches the internal switch as its detection method. The final one to the right is reverse, This is used when something is stuck and needs to be pulled back out. Yeah thats all basic stuff what about the actual shredding ? Well i wouldnt use it for highly confidentual documents. It shreds it into straight strips only . This method is good if you have a lot of things to shred at once. If it fits in the slot it seems to be able to cut it up. I have even been shredding cardboard to save space and make it easier to recycle large quantities. For the price this is great and isnt as noisey as others i have used.

Just got this and went to work right away. Works a treat, and when it`s full, it stops so you can empty the bin, then off you go again. Not tried CD`s yet, but have done credit cards and they get eaten. Paper with staples on too, get eaten. The recycle lads will have fun when they come to empty the cardboard bag with all my boxes and stuff and my new shredded papers :)
