The set works on being able to get a grip of an out of reach bulb side (at the widest part) or the face (e.g. halogens). I can't see how good it would be or what improvement it will make if the bulb is already within reach, let alone broken. **Q: Why does this not come with the essential component a pole?** A: The extension pole is very easy to pick up from any DIY store - a standard size, usually sold for purposes of attaching to a paint roller for decorating ceilings. Probably a bit difficult to pack up for posting so the suppliers of the bulb changing kit don't bother to sell it as a complete set. **Q: Has anyone tried this with a UK bayonet cap bulb or only Edison screw type bulbs please.** A: I tried this for you using the small bulb item and it worked perfectly both for taking out and putting back. However if the bulb is at the end of a flex, you will have to grip the bulb-holder as well.
