Q: How long can it last for after buying it or using some of it? Thanks

As long as the temps are not too high there will not be any performance loss. I wouldn't worry about replacing thermal compound, unless you are experiencing temperature issues. Replacing the thermal paste wont improve performance unless the CPU is throttling under thermal load. You could reapply it every so often if you want to; I usually replace it every year or so.

Q: Is a 4g syringe enough for 2 applications on a CPU, or will i need a larger one?

Thermal paste is not intended to be used as a 'sandwich filler'. Surfaces should be as true as possible with the paste filling the near microscopic imperfections. Hence a 4g syringe is enough for numerous cpu seats and reseats. Try it out at home, less really is more when it comes to heat dissipation. Your end result will always be more dependant on the preparation and seating position of the surfaces than how much paste is used over and above the cigarette paper thickness that is the ideal.Most people will only have the cooling die to spin around, but with my delidded i5-4670k I find having the IHS rotated 180 gives me more balanced core temperatures.Hence less about paste. more about fitting.
