The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Discovery Book

Excellent book. As an introduction to EV3 building and programming this book is the best. Clear and concise instructions for building wheeled and walking robots. Full of interesting projects with great quality building pictorial instructions and easy to understand (for a beginner like me) programming instructions full of extra "Discovery" tasks to to help reinforce your understanding of the programming method. I was very pleasantly surprised at how thick this book is - full of cool stuff to keep you interested. You get lots of book for your money - well worth it. I'm really pleased that I chose this book. If you've got the Lego EV3 core kit LEGO 31313 Mindstorms EV3 and want to learn more about bulding and programming then this book is a must have. Hope this review was of use.

Myself and my son (10) have used this book to help us gain an understanding of EV3 and Programming and it is just FANTASTIC. It takes you every step of the way and gives engaging challenges to embed the learning and make the whole thing a lot of fun. Great if you are a beginner, this book fills in the blanks and gives a structure so that you can move forward with confidence. My compliments to the author this is a super tool and is a must for anyone who wants to get a solid foundation in MINDSTORMS whilst having a lot of fun along the way- good for all ages which is genius in itself!

This is a great book thats easy to understand and follow to create some great builds and teach you how to programme your robots. I found this invaluable to learn myself so I could teach my grandson who's only 3yrs and 4months old on writing this. Mindstorms is normally for 6yrs of age onwards.

Excellent book that I've been working through with my 6 year old son. Probably would be better when he's a bit older (8 maybe?) but I'm impatient to play with the robots! Laurens paces the book nicely with the right balance between designs for you to just build and then follow on work that makes you think and learn. Very happy with this.

Two years ago I bought the NXT book by Valk and was very impressed with its clarity and depth. He assumes no knowledge of programming nor mechanics and gently but thoroughly leads you through a series of projects, exercises and challenges to teach a basic grounding from which you can design, build and programme your own robots. When EV3 came out I was hoping for a book with a similar approach and I was not disappointed. Very clear, very progressive and above all it encourages creativity rather than slavish following of instructions.

This book is brilliant! Seeing as Lego include absolutely minimal information with the EV3 kit and there is a distinct lack of structured tuition about the thing even on their own site, a decent beginners book is really needed and this is it. It is very clearly written and serves as an essential guide in the early stages giving detailed explanations and projects. I think that it is almost an essential purchase with the kit - pity Lego don't include such a book in their kit considering how much they charge for it!

Purchased as a present for my son along with the full LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 kit. The examples are clearly laid out, with large colour pictures and very easy to follow. If you buy the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 kit, this book is a must have to go with it.

What a fantastic set of Lego. You can construct it into many different figures, (e.g. Snake, Scorpion), and lots more fantastic robots. My favourite robot was the snake because my dad downloaded the coding which enabled me to wave my hand in front of its eyes and see it strike, out of nowhere! (I am 10 years old).

El contenido del libro es excelente, te lleva paso a paso para armar un robot.

Elegí esta valoración porque este libró me gusta muchísimo me gusta de el los modelos y los programas son geniales pero lo que no me gusta es que está en inglés y se lo recomendaría a los que le gusta lego como a mí este libró tiene varios modelos algunos grandes y otro pequeño algunos modelos son muy buenos pero completamente todos no porque no tienen suficientes cosas para realizar grandes cosas pero si tienen un buen programa hacen buenas cosas yo a este libró le daría 100 estrellas porque me gusta mucho pero como sólo hay 5 pues le doy 5 ahora depende de como os guste el libro le decís la valoración espero que os guste.

J'ai acheté ce livre pour mes enfants de 7 et 11 ans qui ont monté les robots d'exemple fournis par Lego très vite sans vraiment chercher à comprendre le fonctionnement. Ce livre est tout simplement génial. Les réalisation sont de difficulté croissante et permettent de bien comprendre la programmation et les différents capteurs avec des montages et des exercices très variés. Les robots à monter sont vraiment très sympas (Ah ANTY !). Seul bémol, le livre est en anglais (très bien écris avec un anglais technique très simple)... Du coup, mon fils de 11 ans a du s'en sortir tout seul avec son dictionnaire car il était las d'attendre que je lui traduise. Comme quoi :)
