Great piece of kit tha tdoesn't cost a lot.
I was a little hesitant about buying this as I had not previous experience to draw from in using such a device. Before buying it I would use my tripod to manually move the camera back and forward etc which, whilst not ideal, I got used to.Using this rail has just made life so much easier...!I was impressed with the build quality and the small micro adjustments, which can be tensioned or locked, which is possible when it has been attached to my tripod.I decided to not buy a macro lens at this stage, I'm more curious about the subject and so didn't want to spend too much money. So instead I bought a set of extension tubes and also a Raynox 250. This slider rail perfectly compliments using those when my Canon 80D camera is fitted. The precision in moving the camera is good and there seems little movement once it is securely fitted. Obviously with the very shallow DOF and critical focussing needs no movement is a good thing..!Overall for the money that this has cost I am more than happy with what I have been able to achieve with very precise control over the distance and focus whilst using my camera as described above. The movement control is smooth and not jerky when using the turning knobs.Great piece of kit and not expensive either.

Excellent value, reasonable build quality
Less than £20 represents amazing value (compare a Manfrotto geared head at £150?). The operation is smooth and it works well. The build quality is no where near manfrotto etc of course, but unless you are going to be using it very regularly there is no reason it can't last a lifetime of occasional careful use.The adjustment knobs are well finished knurled metal, pleasant to use. The small tension knobs are v cheepo plastic things however. My main criticism initially was the positioning of the 1/4" holes for tripod attachment - right at the edge of the lower plate. Thus preventing a good solid mounting. As my Manfrotto tripod uses 200PL plates, and I have plenty of these* I've got round the issue by drilling the plate and attaching it as shown.* XCSOURCE® 5pcs Quick Release Plate For Manfrotto 200PL-14. < £10 for 5, superb!

Really good value and it works
Much has been said about this excellent piece of equipment which is provided at a very competitive price of £17.31 as at 13th September 2015. I therefore do not wish to bore anyone reading my review with the technical benefits of this item.First off, may I say that I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer, whose portfolio ranges from loads of "composed" shots from holidays and days out, through creative landscapes and latterly macro photography. I have a very limited budget and therefore my desire is to acquire competitively priced equipment to supplement my rig of a Canon 550d and a Canon 760d. The 550d now is set up mainly for Macro work, with a set of Neewer extension tubes, a 50mm Canon Macro lens, a Neewer LED ring flash for those times when I need more light and now this rail. The three Neewer products cost around £50 for the three and whilst they are not of the highest quality, they are more than satisfactory for me and my occasional use. The Canon lens was a bit of a luxury, but as it can also double up as a high quality 50mm (bear in mind the crop factor) which I often use as a portrait lens as well. This slide then complements my macro set up, cheap and cheerful, but more than up to the standard of my photography, which could be improved upon considerably, but gives me great pleasure. The slider allows me to make micro adjustments when photographing small objects, bearing in mind that the depth of field is minute and therefore there is little room for error in focus; which from my experience has to be done manually. Whilst I do possess a cracking little macro lens, I have attached a photo which I took recently with my bargain basement set up without my macro lens - I have a 55-250 zoom lens attached to my extension tubes and photographed a fly. Nothing special! but it gave me great pleasure! In essence, if you have a limited budget, want a slide rail, ring flash and extension tubes, look at the Neewer kit. Perfect it isn't, but the quality is pretty good and outstanding value for the cash strapped enthusiast.

Extremely Well Made, This is a Top Quality Product
BUILD QUALITYI did not expect this product to be as robust and as well made as it isMetal ( Aluminium ) construction is used thro out, It offers you movement in pretty much every direction you could wish forMounting ! can be mounted directly via the bottom plate onto a tripod or via a quick release plate / ball head configuration on top of a tripodEach slider has a release thread/Knob allowing you to place the individual sliders in place, i then tighten them down sufficiently thus allowing a braked movement, i have experienced no slip or sliding with this product when a camera body is attached, i have used it with a Canon 6D and Canon 1D MKiv with a 24-70 and 50mm and 85mm lens on its more than capable of taking such body configurationsYou'll need a good tripod to keep the whole thing rock steadyAs well as its main use as a Focus Stacking aid which is why i bought it, it makes a perfect Pano Photography head allowing you to find the PARALLAX of your lens allowing Photoshop to seamlessly stitch your panos together, see attached imageI can see no downsides to this piece of kit Highly recommended by myselfNOTE : i Did not receive this as a test / review product form the Seller / Amazon, this was purchased at full cost for my personel use
