Review: Seagate 1TB Black portable external hard drive. - Had a look at the pricing structure for all of these portable HDD's. I have noticed that you can obtain computer accessories, such as this external HDD, at a good price if desertcart advertise them as being superficially scratched, or, the packaging is damaged in any way. This is being sold for about £37 and when it arrived I couldn't really find anything visually wrong with it, and it came in its original box, so, I've saved a bit of money, you need to be a bit savvy these days to get a bargain. Nothing wrong with the HDD at all, in fact, I've already filled 25% of it within 3 days with various music and natural history films off the internet, it works like a charm, if you look after these things properly they'll work for ages. My only complaint as such is that I don't think the lead is long enough really, I have to balance the HDD on top of my desktop PC which isn't ideal, but, with it being about 9 inches long it won't stretch any further unless you get an extension for it, so, just be aware of that, apart from that it's a lovely piece of kit, and will store my personal content for many a year..

**Q: how noisy is this harddrive if it needs to be on 24/7?**
A: I don’t know what the others are on about I have 3 of these and all next to one another and it’s absolute rubbish that they make “so much noise”, in fact they are quite the opposite. Yes you get the typical “spinning” noise when the hard drive is in use but nothing too disturbing like the sound of pots and pans being bashed about. Literally some people over exaggerate noise like wth I mean you must have one dodgy hard drive the way you make it out to be when all 3 of mine are quieter than a sleeping hamster. Hope that helps solve your question.

**Q: Can this be used on both PC and Mac?**
A: I would recommend exFAT over FAT32 or NTFS; while NTFS can be written to on OS X it has never been well supported, and FAT32 has significant limitations. Even ExFAT isn't ideal, but it can handle bigger files, copy more efficiently and is supported on Mac, Linux and Windows as standard. You can format drives as ExFat in OS X's Disk Utility.

**Q: Does this product come with a USB cable, or do you have to buy the cable separately?**
A: Yes it comes with the usb cable

**Q: Does it work for Mac laptop owners?**
A: Out of the box it won't but if u format it will read.How to Erase an internal or external drive that is 500 GB or larger and has already been setup with NTFSOpen the Disk Utility.Select the drive.Click Partition.Under Volume Scheme, choose 1 Partition.Choose Options.Choose Apple Partition Map.Click OK.Click Apply.Click the Partition button.The drive will Erase. When it completes, the drive will mount on the Desktop.Takes less than 30 seconds. Job done.

Had a look at the pricing structure for all of these portable HDD's. I have noticed that you can obtain computer accessories, such as this external HDD, at a good price if Amazon advertise them as being superficially scratched, or, the packaging is damaged in any way. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bought to extend PS4 Memory, works great!

I can honestly say this is the best piece of kit out here, I was worried as there were not many people buying this to expand their PS4 memory drive, so I wasn't sure if it would work with mine, I also read that a lot of portable devices required updates via a PC and I am not one for understanding how to do that, I just wanted a simple plug and play, I did some research and the people who purchased this previously were more than happy to help me out here on Amazon via the answer section,I purchased this and I can say it was a simple plug and play, I took it out of the box, switched on my PS4 first, plugged it into one of the USB Ports (make sure you have enough ports or extended ports), the PS4 recognized it, I went to the device section in settings, it asked me if I wanted to use this to save all future games etc and I hit the format button, that simple. It has made such a difference to my basic 500gb PS4, new games download a lot quicker and mean a lot quicker, instead of hours, it can be a few minutes depending on the game to 30 mins or a little more but there is such a difference. It is also very small, so just sits on top of your console. Great addition for my PS4.
