Simple but straightforward way to learn the basics of hardware programming
These are used in UK schools and ideal for kids without the need to install software- or 'learn programming' in any writing sense - it's all 'drag and drop' logic connect USB, go to the designated website and you will get your first introduction to programming them- a lot of fun even for us so called adults. Read. up on this any you will see how to learn how your smartphone does a few of the things it does sensing the world around It : )

Perfect for beginners - videos help, YouTube fills the rest
This was our first Micro:bit purchase — bought it the same day as a Ring:bit expansion board with no prior experience, jumping in completely from scratch. The board itself is solid. It's small, well-built, and surprisingly capable. What really helped us get started were the beginner project videos they provide — well done and genuinely effective at orienting a young learner before diving into the hands-on work. One hiccup: the Bluetooth pairing instructions are a bit lacking. We ended up turning to YouTube to figure it out, which wasn't a big deal once we found the right video — just worth knowing ahead of time. What won us over is how it handles wireless communication — we ended up using two Micro:bits together, one to drive a motorized car via the Ring:bit board, and another as a radio remote controller. For a first project, that felt like a real accomplishment. A great starting point for kids and beginners. Just keep YouTube handy!

I'm just blown away
This micro:bit micro controller is really, really easy to use, and it's a great way to introduce kids into the world of robotics and programming. I wish I had had one of these when I was a kid! I'm also very impressed with the integration this has with Microsoft MakeCode. I picked up several more of these. The goal is to try and have my kids addicted to these things instead of video games for the summer.

Easy to use
Bought this for my nephew who is a budding STEM enthusiast and he loves it. He’s young but the microbit software is intuitive enough for him to use and program so we are very pleased.
