Disappointing Experience - Underwhelming Performance for the Price
I initially bought this Satechi USB hub thinking it would be a compact and reliable solution, but I was quickly disappointed. The port selection is limited, and the performance feels underwhelming for the price. On top of that, I noticed the hub would get slightly warm during regular use, and sometimes my MacBook simply wouldn’t recognize the charging connection which is frustrating when you’re trying to rely on it for work. After about two weeks, I realized this hub wasn’t meeting my needs at all, especially after I purchased a CalDigit hub. Yes, CalDigit costs more, but in terms of price-to-functionality, it’s a far better investment. It offers more features, better reliability, and just works as expected. Unfortunately, when I reached out to Satechi for support, they weren’t very helpful. Since I was just a few days past the return window, they refused to take the product back—even though Amazon mentioned that a warranty return might be possible given the product’s coverage. I understand policies, but better customer support would have made a difference here. Bottom line: Save your money and get something more reliable. CalDigit is the better choice if you care about reliability and long-term value.

Works great with my M1 MacBook Pro but wish the cord was detachable
There are so many docks on the market but very few seems to have the features that are important to me. I must have 4K 60Hz HDMI support (so many are only 30Hz), 1GB ethernet, and 100W PD charging and a couple USB data ports. This dock exceeds all those wants perfectly without the extra fluff that I don't need. So many other docks compromise on HDMI or other ports just to advertise they have 16 ports, but the quality is more useful than the quantity. It's compact in size and very light weight. My only complaint is that I don't like docks that have a fixed cable attached to them since it can get damaged or it tends to be too short. The attached cable in only about 10" long and may limit your options depending on your desk setup. I would prefer if it included just the female USB-C port and a 3 foot cable. It does NOT include a power adapter as you are expected to use the one included with your laptop. This is fine with me as I would much rather trust an original Apple power adapter over some cheap brick to power my expensive computer. The HDMI support has been solid with my BenQ 4K monitor and my ethernet speeds match that of my old reliable Apple thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. It charges my Macbook just fine and has proven to be stable for the several days of working from home I've used it for. The case is made from plastic but it does have vented holes on the back to prevent overheating. It's not the most solid feeling dock I own but again it's very compact and light so if you travel with it, you'll appreciate that. If you're looking for a small dock and just need these included ports, then you'll likely find this one perfect for you.

Quality Hub
After having an unfortunate experience with a generic USB-C hub and their infamous PAUSE frames that can knock down an ethernet network (Search it, there are plenty of technical articles about the issue) I wanted to avoid a repeat, and since most portable USB-C hubs have this issue (Including an older model from Satechi) this caught my eye because it uses a newer Ethernet interface that is rated for 2.5G. I'm happy to say that I did not experience these issues with this hub. This hub is one of the few that are rated for USB4, and so far everything I used it with has been great. Design-wise, it plays the part: There is a metal frame around the side. The bottom is black plastic with vents. The top is black with an indentation that gives it a subtle flare, with the logo on it. There is a dim blue light next to the HDMI port to indicate it’s powered on, but besides that no flashy lights, which I prefer. All the ports are on one side, except the Ethernet that is on the front bezel. Ports, in order: Ethernet: It's a VIA Ethernet controller 2.5G running on an USB 3.1 5GB/s internal connection. It's plug & play (no drivers needed). My desktop switch is gigabit but the computer does recognize it as a 2.5Gb Ethernet. Audio port: It's audio out and mic in (So it works with EarPods or similar). What I find very useful is that the audio port does not show up as USB audio until something is plugged in, so the computer should switch to this port when and only when one plugs headphones on it. It also supports in-line controls. USB-C port: This is a 10G USB-C port. It does not support video and it's not used for providing power into the hub. Middle USB-C port: This is also a 10G USB-C port and does not support video but it can be used to connect the power adapter, so to have a single cable connected to the computer. USB-A port: This is also a 10G port, so all USB ports are 10G, USB 3.2. HDMI: I'm using on a regular monitor although the instructions mentions it supports up to 8K monitors but only 4K monitors on macOS (There are different ways to transmit video between USB-C and Thunderbolt, whereas Macs follows the Thunderbolt format). And that's it for the ports. I think this could've used more USB ports on the other side and that's my only real caveat with this hub, since it demands a much higher price than other portable hubs. So overall, I find it's an excellent implementation for a portable USB-C hub, I just with it had more ports. I like that it's rated for USB4, the Ethernet 2.5G support, all the USB-C ports are 10G and the thoughtful design on the audio port. I'm using it with an Intel MacBook (Thunderbolt 3), and Microsoft Surface Pro 9 (Thunderbolt 4 - Windows 11) and works as expected without any issues.

Never worked. Even with PD, constantly ejected SSDs
This hub was so miserably unreliable. I tried different troubleshooting techniques, and it would seem to function properly for a while, then it would randomly start unmounting and mounting SSDs. I wish I had returned it immediately instead of trying to make it work for me. Such a huge waste of money and makes me not trust Satechi products anymore.

It’s only works for 2-3 months then the ports start to fall down one by one , I contacted the main company and they asked me for many things like take a video and show us what’s not working and connect it with another devices . At the end they sayed yeah your right but you bought it from Amazon UAE we cannot do anything for you sorry 😂😂 .
