Thank you in advance.** A: I have never used acrylic medium before, so I don't know the difference. I used this to transfer laser-printed and other images to domino beads, glass and metal surfaces with great success and few problems. The brush strokes give the finished transfer film a slight matte finish, but adding a coat of glue, omni-gel, or even clear nail polish to the finished product will change it from matte to glossy easily. I think if a sponge brush or scraper were used on each or the last coat, one could achieve a smoother surface, but I was always happy with the finished image. I did like that if you turn the finished transfer over, you have a perfect reverse image, only the reverse side is smooth. You can actually use either side, if there is no wording in the image. I don't know if this is also true of other mediums, so I thought I would mention it.I would guess one difference with this and other mediums would be that this is not a thick substance. Other mediums (from what I gather from Googling them) start out thicker and let the artist play around a bit more with thickness and texture.I wish I could be more helpful, but I just have no experience with other mediums. Feel free to ask any specific questions you may have. **Q: can an image transfered onto tile or glass be "waterproof" and OK to be placed in a garden?** A: If you can find a waterproof application to add after you have finished the transfer, it should be ok. Check with tile or craft experts on this. **Q: Will this work to transfer to a rock?** A: I believe it will as it works on glass.
