The lid portion is glued to same whilst the main storage foam was removeable in order to enable one to pluck/ pull gently out pre-cut small blocks to suit your needs /or/desired shapes .I use it for telescope lenses /accessories as they are fairly delicate and whilst this case is not in my opinion high security it is very light and offers a reasonable amount of protection ,however,I would be cautious of depending upon it in a situation if placed in a cargo hold on a plane/train /or bus ,rather ,keeping it within your sight. As a flight case in my opinion if mishandled and due to its light nature if roughly /carelessly tossed around or dropped inadvertently from a height contents might suffer damage from a jolt dependant upon their fragility.
