You can take quite a few liberties in the use of Rust Remedy, the main rule is to remove any loose rust that may flake off, and avoid getting it on good paintwork. The Rust Remedy reacts when in contact with ferrous material, so make sure you decant your Rust Remedy into another container so you can use it without dipping you possibly contaminated brush into the bottle and setting the whole bottle off. I bought a bottle to treat a badly rusted wheel I had left in the garden, and having rubbed it down with an old stainless steel kitchen scourer, I gave it a couple of coats of Rust Remedy and it smartened it up nicely. After the second coat, I found the wheel was a scruffy pale colour, but that was excess unreacted Rust Remedy, and I found after a couple of days, the wheel was black as expected. I might paint it, but to be honest, it won't need it and it looks fine as it is for my needs. I've got nothing bad to say about this stuff at all, it works well, and literally lasts for years. I'm just glad they still make it. Review: Done a shed load of good - I bought this item to help repair a hole which had appeared in my metal shed. the hole had rust around it and was not actually noticable until I decided to give the shed a good clear out and tidy up. The product itself is of a good standard and easy to use. I applied 2 coats and then used a waterproof exterior tape to make sure the weather didn't make the problem worse. So far, so good. It seems to have worked by arresting the progress of the rust. The shed is about 20 years old but it serves me as it is. You have to bear in mind that you have to remove as much rust as possible and smooth the surface down before you use loctite. i.e. no surface or loose rust remains before you apply it. **Q: what brush do you use to apply product with?** A: Depending on the area to be treated, any small paint brush will do. I have used a cotton bud. I suggest you use masking tape to limit the area if that appropriate. **Q: How long once applied does this provide anti corrosive protection?** A: After you use the loctite, you need to apply a coat or two of spray / paint to maximise the affect and to protect long term. Oldest use personally 5 years and going strong...obviously this is with normal regular maintenance which you would expect on car.
