So much potential but.......
This book has some really good information and is a good level for primary age children. I wanted it for 3-4yr olds and with some adaptations this will be suitable. The text is a good level for Nursery-year six (probably) the idea is brilliant, but I disagree with some of the nutritional information. This is definitely written by an American author so some of the foods may not be recognised by children here and the examples of carbohydrates are terrible. There’s no illustrations of complex, slow energy release carbs it’s all pretzels, white rice and breakfast cereal! Also, there is no distinction between different types of fats they’re are all talked about in the same way- the good, the bad and the ugly all lumped together. I think it’s probably still inline with the school curriculum, but does promote a poor western diet in places. So, if you’re aiming to teach children about good nutrition this will take a bit of explaining. Having said that it is the best I’ve found so far. It’s just that it could do with a bit of tweaking.
