Difference between single and multi-mode models please? i'm looking to use for hifi audio streaming

In technical terms multi-mode is an older technology using a slightly thicker fibre and a different wavelength of light (it actually uses several different wavelengths of light over the same fibre). On the other hand, single-mode is more modern and uses a single wavelength running over a narrower fibre. In practical terms, single-mode can carry higher bandwidth and / or over much longer distances (normally kilometres instead of hundreds of metres). Single-mode can run at higher speeds (10Gbps+) over those sorts of distances. The bottom line is that the option you use will depend on the distance you want to cover. If it's up to a couple of hundred metres then it probably doesn't matter. The electrical hardware is also a factor (e.g. if the transceiver runs at 1Gbps then the fibre connection will be limited to that speed). The most important thing is to make sure that the fibre you use matches the transceiver - single-mode fibre with a single-mode transceiver and multi-mode with multi-mode. The connectors at the end of the fibre will also need to be the correct ones for the transceiver. For this particular product you'll need single-mode fibre with at least two cores, terminated with an SC connector.
