Good cord for the Knot Insane
I'm a knotting aficionado and have been for a number of years so have had experience of a wide range of cords, paracords and stringy things in general. I'm always using cord for demonstrations and producing my own goods and I like the 3mm cord for general use it ties nicely and neatly and is generally a little less bulky than that of it's 6mm 550 Cord cousin. I thought I would try the Savage Island cord just to see how good it was for the price. I've used the Kombat and Webtex cord in the past and had more pleasant experience with the Kombat to date so I have high hopes for this new experience.I think it's important to note the price point here as well because I am not expecting US grade cord just something that is good quality not lumpy and ties well without and kinking and doesn't pull too easily. So to start, first off the colour is noticeably different to other Coyote cords I have in fact I would be inclined to say it's almost a tan/mustard colour. Doesn't put me off but it's important note to future purchasers if colour match is important this wouldn't pass as Coyote in any of my products. Again though the colour is not in itself unpleasant and will do perfectly for the uses I have in mind. The Reel is a good touch that I like on these cord and Savage island is perfectly up to the job. Less impressive is their method for stopping the cord unravel from the reel. Melting it and sticking it onto the cord underneath is a bit shoddy. At some point, hopefully not in the middle of a long length there will be a piece that is now all frayed/ pulled due to me having to pull the working end of the cord off the strand it was attached too. Again not a big deal but a piece of tape or slipping the cord under another strand would have been preferable and in my opinion a better option. Now I've tied a few lengths of this into items already and it ties really well, it's not at all lumpy and doesn't kink or twist anymore that other cords would. It's a little shiny (blisters) so a couple of Elastoplast's on my fingers before any larger tasks will be called for to avoid the blisters. The cord actually ties nice and tightly and knots don't noticeably slip or loosen when tension is taken off. A couple of square knots later and I'm impressed with the cord it looks and feels nice although not as soft to the touch as the Kombat cord but I do like it. So far as well it doesn't seem to fray too easily and when melting the ends it holds well. I'd really like to try some more savage Island cord in different colours because in all honesty and for the projects I have in mind it would work really well. The range of colours is far better than Kombat which has always been a limitation and buying 3mm cord from anywhere else costs a fortune so I can see me experimenting with other colours in this range, including the Camo colours. I'll provide an update on those as and when. So overall and given my expectation 4 stars the lost star is for sticking the melted end back onto the reel and for the colour but other than that very happy with the purchase it ties well and for the price is a good quality product.

Perfect Paracord for Spearfishing Dive Line
I recently used a 100m length of this paracord to make spearfishing dive line, and it exceeded my expectations. The quality is exceptional, with a tight weave and durability that held up perfectly underwater. It was easy to handle, knot, and remained strong throughout the dive, even in challenging conditions. The cord didn’t show any signs of wear, and it performed flawlessly as a dive line. I can't find a single fault with it—it's reliable, sturdy, and exactly what I needed. Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-quality paracord, especially for spearfishing or other extreme sports

Quality appears to be hit and miss
Initially I purchased 1 reel of this and all 100m were fine. Having realised I needed a lot more paracord than I anticipated I then proceeded to buy a other 3 reels. I am using the cord to wrap around the bars of an egg chair and so am using around 30m pieces in one go. After having reeled off around 15m of the 1st reel I noticed further down the reel that there were multiple instances where the outer casing had been nicked exposing the white inner cord, and therefore affecting both the appearance and strength of the paracord at those points. As I need long pieces in tact I then proceeded to try using the 2nd reel, however I found exactly the same issue after having used the first 15/20m. I have not yet checked the 3rd roll but am hoping when I do that I do not find the same issue. Each coil came individually wrapped in plastic and was well protected in the delivery packaging and so it would this is a quality control issue with the manufacturer as opposed to the seller themselves (perhaps there is an issue with machinery used to wrap the paracord on to the coil catching it at some points). The seller would not be able to see the damage unless they unravelled a fair portion of the paracord to check before sending it out. The cord which is not damaged is perfectly fine and if it was not for me needing long complete pieces at a time it would not be as big an issue but as it is impossible to tell how much or how far down the damage is without unravelling the coil completely it is obviously disappointing as I do not if I will have enough undamaged cord in one continuous piece with testing it out which involves a fair bit of my time. Whilst this may not be as much of an issue if I was only looking to use smaller lengths of the paracord at a time, you would ideally expect that the full 100m of paracord on the coil is undamaged so it is suitable for whatever you wish to use it for.

This spool of, what is described as paracord is anything like the others. Nor does it have the same tensile strength or texture. Its just a cheap attempt at making a weaved outer sheath for a cuple of strands in the middle. Its very hard or next to impossible to melt like the regular brands. Instead, it catches fire and retracts way diffrently in the core than the sheath. Outer sheath is fast and the core is very slow. All this could be excused if there was a better finish or look of the product. Taking two ends and pushing it together makes it pretty much destroyed and the shape is lost forever almost instantly. Dressing and subtle heating can reshape it, but not without leaving visible characteristic changes. Just a quick comparison with a supercheap paracord in blue beside the red product im reviewing from Savage Island. TLDR: cheap product with disappointing materials making me wish i bought something else.

Used this cord to make an outdoor chair. Unfortunately it is not at all UV resistant and is crumbling under the sun. I spent quite a lot of time on making two chairs so I’m not a happy camper. Useless! And too late for a refund I recon.
