Only for older children
This book is an absolute delight. It is totally beautiful, with amazing realistic botanical illustrations. I must admit I bought it for a 4 and 5 year old and it goes way over their heads, they don't have any interest in it sadly. They like entertaining storybooks. They can't read the cursive writing and I doubt most children could. The book looks amazingly decorative out on show, but I think the authors perhaps had much fun making it as beautiful as possible and appealing to parents as an educational resource that they forgot about the preferences of the child audience. I would say that this book is mostly suitable for nature lovers age 8+, not so much for younger children. Although, I have read it with a very bright 3½ year old who is enraptured with nature and he really liked it! So go figure, if you have a little Attenborough on your hands, this might just be perfect!

Beautiful and challenging
I chose this book to look at with my Year 2 class. The text and pictures work so well together to get children to really think about what seeds are like. The use of vocabulary in the book has challenged my children but already they are including it in their own writing. I've learned some awesome facts too!

This little book will inspire your child to want to plant some seeds! The way the books illustrations bring such whimsy and magic to the seeds and sprouts is so charming! The Family Treasure Nature Encylopedias series is wonderful, charming, and beautiful! My children and I love these books. A seed is sleepy is a gorgeous book! The illustrations are quite beautiful. This book is chock full for great information for learning. The way this series is written makes it easy for younger and older children to enjoy. The way the words just whimsically dance across the page is beautiful. A great asset to your home library or homeschool library.
