My youngest grandchildren (5 & 7) don't always play by the rules, but that's okay. They're enjoying the competition and the challenge. The sticks are smooth, nicely (but not dangerously) pointed, and are brightly colored. Buy them -- you'll have fun!

My wife and I purchased these pick up sticks to play with our visiting granddaughters, ages 8 and 6. They loved playing with them, as did we. The sticks are well made, easy to handle, and offered at a very reasonable price point. We played with these when we were children and it is a lot of fun to now share the enjoyment with our grandchildren. These simple sticks provide a quality family expereince for everyone, at any age.

This is still an excellent toy for concentration. Although 60 year ago the material for the pick up sticks was plastic. Compared to them, the wooden ones are heavier. I prefer the plastic design. The change is not an improvement, just a change. My neighbor and I were happy to find them at Amazon, as we couldn't find them at local stores.
