Review: Perfect purchase - Rebinding and making new hardcovers for old paperbacks i used this. You can use PVA or woodglue for the same purpose and thats probably cheaper, but this specific bookbinding glue did exactly what it was designed to do. I did the spine, the signature pages, the hessian bookcovers, the endpapers, the lot with this and didn't need any other adhesive. It did everything admirably. It dries quick and tacky which is precisely perfect for working with bookbinding. Saves a lot of time drying so you can move on to the next step without any long waiting times. Allows for repositioning OK if you are quick. Just perfect for every step of the process and even drying, no drips. Lovely.

**Q: Is this glue suitable for making tear-off notepads?**
A: I'm a bookbinder and this glue can work well if you follow a few simple rules:

1) your pages must be level and smooth at the glueing edge.
2) don't use single/double fanning methods; this will result in way too much glue being applied and you won't be able to remove single sheets.
3) make sure the pages are securely held between boards and there are no gaps between the sheets
4) apply with a plastic glue applicator, never a brush. It dries quite quickly and is impossible to remove from bristles once set.
5) two thinner coats work better than one thick coat.

As others have said, it can dry out in its container; I cover mine with a disc of silicone (baking) paper between use.

**Q: What is the best method for spreading this glue? I have tried brushes and find the glue is too stiff for using a brush**
A: I tend to use a reasonably sturdy piece of card which is flexible enough to bend but strong enough not to crumple. I would avoid brushes in any case simply because I hate washing them. But tbh the glue shouldn't be all that stiff - it sounds as if the tub might not be completely airtight. I have learnt through experience to remove any dried glue from around the edge of the lid so that it fits on really tightly. It only takes a tiny bit of air getting in to make the glue harden up.

**Q: is this glue suitable for sticking book pages to mdf?**
A: Yes i would think it would as its very strong glue, but do not spread too thick, try a piece first it really is very good for crafts, but when you have finished using the glue put the lid on secure and turn it upside down to store as this stops it sealing over with a skin, hope this helps, Marilyn.

**Q: Could this be used to make your own watercolour block pad**
A: cant really say about suitability for you however i purchased this to make some small pads of bank notes as Christmas presents. despite having front and back covers and having 4 layers if glue it seems to have very little stick and i would have been better getting some old style GUM it may do what you want. i would be happy to give my tub away as it will net vet used again. it may be ok if you have very absorbent paper. as it was cheap it was not worth returning.
