I bought this one primarily to fine grate small amounts of lemon and ginger
This is some grater, exceptionally sharp and certainly performs well over my other older grater. I bought this one primarily to fine grate small amounts of lemon and ginger. It is ultra sharp and if you’re not careful it will grate your knuckles too as I almost discovered. I tested it on half a carrot. The downside is that a good deal of the carrot gratings got stuck at the back (between the sides). For instance on a flat grater the shavings can be wiped away but because this one is so narrow you then have to prise the shavings out gently without ruining the metal blades and for fear of nicking your fingers on the thin metal sides. For this I had to use some thick kitchen towel to “wipe” them out between the sides. I would say that this grater would be more hassle-free for dry ingredients like nutmeg but I will continue to use it with the appropriate care for the purpose for which it was bought. Thankfully it has comes with a plastic protective cover!

Great for citrus zest and mincing garlic + ginger, Cheddar not so much
(I purchased this item in September 2020 and waited 3 months to give a review based on multiple uses rather than after the first use) I bought this grater intending to use it mainly for grating lemon zest but it has also proved to be useful for grating garlic cloves and pieces of fresh ginger when I need it for cooking and I've run out of the convenient frozen stuff. In fact, I used fresh garlic and fresh ginger on this grater for a curry before I used it to grate lemon zest (not at the same time) for Apple Crumble (try adding a bit of zest and a big pinch of cinnamon powder when you cook the chopped apples on the stove). It comes in a long rectangular box and has a click-on guard when sitting in a drawer not in use. The grater is lighter than I thought it would be and easy to hold. Taking advice from other reviews, I take my time grating so that I don't injure myself as it is sharp but am even more careful when grating garlic and ginger. After grating, I usually find some zest or minced garlic/ginger on the other side of the grater (after I've tapped it on the side of the pot/pan) and wipe it off with my (clean!) finger into the pot/pan. I've tried grating cheddar cheese and it's okay but I would recommend a handheld cheese grater instead as the cheese strands are fine and very small. It might be okay for topping a jacket potato but not good enough for grating cheese for a lasagne or pasta bake, for example. I wipe the other side of the grater after grating as usual. I've never tried grating Parmesan, chocolate or vegetables such as carrots so I can't comment on that. Cleaning isn't a hassle. I pour a few drops of washing up liquid, use a dish brush and clean both sides under running water (and the handle with a sponge). I leave the grater to air dry then carefully click the plastic guard back on before storing away.

Really sharp and totally ideal for zesting
Easy to use and clean. Need to be really careful when using and washing as it’s incredibly sharp but perfect for my needs.

Durable and effective
I bought mine in 2015 and have used it almost daily on garlic, fresh and frozen ginger, parmesan, lemons, nutmeg etc. Still as good as new and I wouldn't be without it in the kitchen.

Great grater.
This hand grater is one of the best that I have used and I've used quite a few. It's blade is extremely sharp, which is why it comes with a plastic blade cover ( this just clips onto the blade section of the grater). The yellow handle is rather comfortable to hold whilst grating and to date I've grated citrus fruits, chocolate, cheese and nutmeg which is one of the hardest food products to grate. I received the item well inside the approximate dates for delivery.

East to use and effective grater
I have used this many times now to grate lemon zest for cakes. It is so much easier to use than the fine part of the cheese grater which I used to use. It is also very easy to wash and come with a plastic guard which you can clip on when not using the grater. This is a good idea as it is very sharp. I wish I'd bought one of these years ago.
