8342-50G Rosin Flux Paste, 50 g Jar

I bought this after reading some other reviews that suggested this was great for electrical work. I've been away from hobby electronics for many years and i'm only just returning to it, so needed to stock up with some decent soldering accessories. Having read about rosin flux, I was expecting a vile, nasty product which creates a lot of fumes during use and stinks the house out. Really not the case with this product. Obviously you should never breathe solder/flux fumes anyway, but I really didn't notice any odours emanating from the flux, which makes it a pleasure to use. The consistency is as it should be, and I find it is easily applied to joints using small wooden coffee stirrers (they make great applicators!) Although i've only used it for soldering wire connections so far, my solder joints have been massively improved by this stuff. The solder flows easily and very quickly (I use 60/40 Tin/Lead solder) and leaves connections strong and shiny. I was a little surprised to find the tub only half full when opening it, but it is indeed 50g in weight. Not sure why they did this, but I guess there must be a reason why they didn't just fill the tub. That said, there is still plenty of product in the tub. For what i use it for, i'm not expecting to have to reorder any again any time soon. Highly recommended!

Brill flux - second tub for me . Really helps solder flow and you only need a smidgeon…

OK Im not an expert in the field of soldering but I like to dabble as a hobby with electronics. I got this mainly to solder a repair on the washing machine, a snapped thickish stranded wire. First attempts before I got it were rubbish but this flux chaged the game and I produced some decent joints in no time. Its worth having a pot, im very happy with mine

All good, might be better in some cases to use no-clean but this does a great job and can be cleaned up with a cold glass of IPA.. the IPA being sipped whilst you dab at it with a cotton bud. Took my soldering from meh to not baaaad… turns out flux makes it all flow!

I’ve been trying for ages without flux but decided to try it and change my soldering technique. I am an amateur and still learning but wish I had done it months ago. This thing is awesome. Bit of flux then add the solder…boom. Done.

Not my favourite style of flux for application but this is fairly decent for the price, melts quickly and adheres to solder points quite well, quite sticky afterwords but if you remember to clean up your solder points with ipa then its not an issue.

Easily works with silver and copper (even quite oxidised copper, that normal rosin doesn't work well with). It does not work with aluminum (nor did I expect a rosin-based flux to). It does, however, work with steel -- even stainless steel, which I also did not expect it to (probably thanks to the additional organic acids).

I'm really happy that I made this purchase. This product is top of the line and leaves a very clean work area when you do soldering with it. I purchased this because I'd run out of my regular brand so I decided to give this one a try and it actually is better than the one that I used to use. I would recommend this to anyone who does any soldering with PCB boards. Make sure you do have a clean flux cleaner.
