Do I need to buy anything else in order to install and get this running?** A: You can play blu-ray with VLC player and its free.also if you have nero burning rom that plays and records blu-ray you can get a free install with a few month's trail version **Q: What are m disces ??** A: data, photos, home videos etc stored on a usb stick, dvd etc. they start to deteriorate after 8 + years. If these are stored on an m disc they will last for hundreds of years without any deterioration. Also you can get M Discs, which are the same size as a normal RW DVD disc, that will store 100GB of data etc and store it permanently. **Q: how is it powered** A: I agree with the others, just plug in the SATA power cable and away you go. When I installed mine I was replacing a DVD drive that was powered from the standard wiring loom so make sure you have enough connectors on your motherboard to take the SATA data cable. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Solid External Blu-Ray Drive! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 1 May 2026* Very pleased with this external blu-ray drive!I have been hesitant buying one for a while, due to mixed reviews on various other brands' drives, but after seeing the good reviews for this one, i decided to purchase.The build quality is great. Much more solid than the external dvd drive i have.The sleek stand gives it a cool aesthetic look, and helps with space.I've ripped several blu-ray music discs so far, and they transferred quick.After that, i've tested playing some blu-ray's, using powerdvd, and they all started up fairly quick, and without issues.The cable length could have been a bit longer, as i use a electric standing desk, and won't be able to use this while i am standing, but it's fine to use for sitting.I plan to use this to back up all my blu-ray/dvd media, so hopefully it will do that without much issue!Apart from that, i'm very pleased with the purchase, and to say blu-ray drives don't really get produced nowadays, i was happy with the price, especially after noticing some of the higher prices for now delisted drives.I highly recommemd this product, for anyone needing an external blu-ray drive! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 4 September 2026* Nice kit ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Drive *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 July 2019* Good product.
