The colour is white and the shampoo smells nice. If the lid was open and half of the quantity was missing, take it back and ask for an exchange

It is not as thick as other shampoos but certainly shouldn't be water like. It lathers really good though. I find a small amount goes a long way even with the first lathering in your hair if you are washing your hair more than once on a wash day.
