Photocell Sensor for Gate Opener

The build of the sensors are good, however, the electronics of it are poor quality. The sensors work when installed but fail after a day. I read reviews that said buyers got a faulty one, so they tried the second pair, same result. The beam works intermittently and sometimes not at all. Would not recommend buying. I bought because it seemed a good deal for two pairs of sensors, turns out it was a total waste of money.

You receive two transmitter receiver pairs , and the hardware quality is reasonable. In my case, only one of the transmitters functioned. Unfortunately I wasted several hours trying to troubleshoot my installation only to determine that I had a bad transmitter module where the relay stayed latched all the time ( two red LEDs on all the time). I replaced the bad transmitter with one from the second set and it worked fine. I found no way to contact the vendor for a replacement and did not want to uninstall and return both sets for one bad transmitter. Ordinarily I would rate this one star, but the reality is that these are $10 a set, and I used it to replace my gate obstruction detection sensors that fail fairly often and cost $75 for one set. So even though I only got one working set out of two, I still saved $55, thus I am giving it a 3 star rating. The documentation is minimal and the print and labels on the product are so small that you need an electron microscope to read it. But the necessary info is there. The transmitter module comes configured with a Normally Closed (NC) output connection. You must move a jumper plug on the circuit board over one pin to convert this to Normally Open (NO) which is required for most gate obstruction or gate opening applications. In spite of the 50/50 quality, at this price I ordered another set to have as a backup.
