Review: Images great, text too small - The book is great with lots of information and images. The only thing that lets it down is the writing print is very small. I feel the writing needs to be bigger to engage the kids, although the pictures are really helpful, you want the kids to be part of the reading process and if they see writing like this, it bores them. Younger kids for sure. But will give it a go as it is a topic they will be learning at school when they return after the summer

The book is great with lots of information and images. The only thing that lets it down is the writing print is very small. I feel the writing needs to be bigger to engage the kids, although the pictures are really helpful, you want the kids to be part of the reading process and if they see writing like this, it bores them. Younger kids for sure. But will give it a go as it is a topic they will be learning at school when they return after the summer

WOW! What an amazing book. The illustrations are beautiful, the way the story is told is great. I found it so fascinating it left me going away researching more about Shackleton's journey and his crew. I loved all the tiny details in the illustrations that were added into it as well; things like certain people who became well known for catching penguins, or those who were stowaways. It's suitable for adults or older children alike - anyone will like this book really. This is obviously a very well researched and beautiful thought out book. I can not WAIT to get William Grill's next book.
