Relatively fast, reliable, as described and not made by Seagate!
Relatively fast, reliable, as described and not made by Seagate! A bit noisy though - with audible clonking noises - not advised for where that might matter. Ignore the poor review on here from the guy that doesn't understand the difference between raw and formatted capacity. For reference 14TB manufacturer raw measurement = 12.73TB formatted without any file system overhead.

Brilliant
Great hard drives

Actual capacity is 10.9tb
Pretty good product but remember this 12tb drive in the way manufacturers measure hard drives computers use 1024 instead of 1000 like the manufacturers so it will show up with a capacity of 10.9tb on the computer

Noisy,slow, and I think it is going to die very young
Nothing this noisy and slow can be good. It is the youngest of my mechanical drives, and the slowest and the noisiest. I will not buy another. The Caviar Blacks were GREAT, and the BLACKS still seem ok but frankly WD have done a lot to lead to me losing faith and confidence in them over the last 18 months. I am going to try to move to SSD's & NVME's but for long term storage at a reasonable rate it has to still be mechanical drives, but NOT WD, for me anyway, any more.

IT SEEMS OK SO FARE BUT IT HAS ONLY 10 ...
IT SEEMS OK SO FARE BUT IT HAS ONLY 10.9 TB AVAILABLE SPACE OK you have to lose some space for its systems but over a TB IS MORE THAN EXCESSIVE should have marked it as an 11 TB drive

HelioSeal= helium gas filled
The better Enterprise Disks are now given at atmosphere of helium gas which gives a better performance in high density disks. Which means if you are going to buy a >10TB drive for long life and heave work loads (data centre) make sure its Gas Filled. If you are going to get a large drive, maybe better to have it as a RAID drive using 2 of them, like the Pros do. "HelioSeal technology (on 10TB drives and above) allows for higher capacities and less turbulence on large storage arrays. And now on its 5th generation design, HelioSeal technology is field-tested and proven to delivery high capacity, reliability, and power efficiency you can trust. "This innovative technology hermetically seals the HDD and replaces the air inside with helium, which is one-seventh the density of air. The less-dense atmosphere resets the boundaries and challenges of conventional high-capacity HDDs, allowing for dramatic increases in efficiency, reliability and value.

Very Noisy.
I've never heard a HDD which was anywhere near as noisy as this. Emits a loud hum and vibration at idle. But thats not the worst thing. The worst thing is the constant (every 5 seonds) loud click, so loud in fact, that it makes the entire PC shake! I've got hard drives that are 15 years old that don't make such a racket! Why this happens every 5 seconds was a mystery to me. And with no option supplied from WD to change the frequency, i returned this drive as potentially faulty. I've since found out (not an easy discovery) that this is a 'feature' on all current WD drives. PWL, preventative wear levelling, supposedly to lubricate the mechanism or some such. Amazon as ever were great and took it straight back.
