They were easy to walk in; I even did some minor hiking up and down hills on somewhat rocky terrain and they were great for that. Comfortable for swimming and provided much appreciated extra padding with my fins on. I typically have found fins/flippers to be extremely uncomfortable because of my wide feet (and more recently bunions) but while wearing the Mares boots my feet were fine in the fins.
