I'm about halfway through the book, and so far I feel like I've made a lot of progress. There are even some concepts in this book that weren't covered (or covered so well) in the courses that I took years ago. I'll be going on a trip to a Spanish-speaking country soon, and so I'm using this book (and the other one that focuses on verbs) to help me brush up and improve on what I learned long ago. I think that this book is also good for beginners because it's very well organized and with each chapter the exercises should help you become more confident in your ability to communicate. Review: EXCELLENT GRAMMAR SERIES! - As a Spanish teacher for 14 years, I LOVE this series of books. They are better, in most cases, than any of the official text books we have to use. I tell my students to buy them as a support for learning all aspects of Spanish grammar and they love them. The biggest reason for their popularity is the no frills, clear, concise explanations given for every item they are teaching. They also have good practice pages and easy to find answers in the back to correct one's work. The cost is much better than what students pay for overpriced text books! I often wanted to get my school to replace the text books with all of the books in this series. They are still less expensive than one text book of lesser quality!

A Good Supplement
We are homeschooling three kids. I would suggest this book ONLY if you are providing verbal lessons for your children. The book is well laid out. However, it is a supplement. To use this book without regularly providing your child the option to speak Spanish will likely suck the joy out of learning a beautiful language. I highly recommend as a supplement to other Spanish resources. At minimum take a look at MANGO at your public library online.

Another excellent book for learning Spanish
This is the second Spanish text by Dorothy Richmond that I am using to learn Spanish. This one goes through vocabulary in a very well organized fashion. It first starts with spelling and pronounciation rules, then moving on to vocabulary organized into handy groups. The learning curve is not too steep. I felt that it is really helping me to increase my daily vocabulary. If the student knows a little Spanish first, it would helpful.

Not basic
These are indepth and do not give any explanations. I lived in San Antonio for 2 years and have taken one semester of Spanish. This helps me understand what my teach didn't teach. If I hadn't had the class I probably would have had more trouble understanding it than I did.

This is an excellent book
I really like this book very much. It is so much easier to understand than the very expensive one I bought when I attended the university. It simplifies things and really helps in learning. I also recommend that Practice Makes Perfect, Spanish Verb Tenses. second edition (green book) to go with this red one. These are inexpensive yet very helpful books. Why make things hard for yourself?

Great tool to start learning Spanish
Spanish the easy way. I recommend you start here and move into grammar and beyond! I Am learning at my pace. The one thing that helps speed you learning up is to have someone else to speak and practice with. Someone that is fluent is the best choice. This book and a Spanish partner is a great set of tools to learn as quickly as you want to.

Great book, interesting stories however after several weeks
I just bought this book a few days ago, this is something that you don't just read through quickly. What I have seen so far I like. Vocabulary arranged by subject, interesting stories to practice on. wish i could reduce the stars after struggling with this book for several weeks now. vocabulary lists are in tiny print which does not enlarge like the rest of the book. very hard on my eyes, gave up on trying to read it.
