Buy At Home with Madame Chic: Becoming a Connoisseur of Daily Life First Edition by Scott, Jennifer L. (ISBN: 9781476770338) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Un livre très chic - This is a delightful book, a little gem, although best taken a little tongue-in-cheek. It is, nonetheless, full of sensible ideas for any woman who wants to become as chic as we imagine every French woman to be. Sadly, they are no longer as chic as they used to be when Jennifer L. Scott spent her time in Paris (I speak from the experience of having lived in Paris) but there is still much to be learned from 'le style français' and the French attitude to life. Jennifer's enthusiasm for all things French is infectious and this book made me want to change many aspects of my life and the way I dress. I love all things French as much as Jennifer does and I'm looking forward to the publication of her new book, out this autumn. Review: Another great read from Jennifer Scott - I really enjoyed Jennifer's first book and this latest one is just as good I'm pleased to say. She's a fantastic writer and I love the way she encourages us all to slow down, enjoy life and chic up our day a little! After reading it I put some fresh flowers in the bathroom, put up a hook for my (always missing) keys and bought a new fluffy rug for the bedroom - baby steps on the way to a more chic and ordered life! A fantastic read, can highly recommend!

Excellent book for a young mum
Whilst I loved the first book this book I had to skip past a lot of the sections relating to motherhood. A must read for a young mum wishing to embrace the chic life. Very little Madame Chic inspiration which I was hoping for.

Chic and inspiring
I don't normally write reviews but I was so impressed with this book. It is written in a very positive way and has inspired me to really think about my home life. I also liked the way Jennifer gives useful suggestions for us working mums such as scheduling a manageable cleaning routine into the week...its aimed at anyone aiming for a chic home..not just stay at home mums!! There are some references to Madame Chic dotted throughout but I was more interested to see how the author manages to run her home and maintain such a positive frame of mind...I already have her first book and follow her blog and was curious to see how she makes it all work. I read this is two sittings and can't wait to incorporate some of her suggestions into my everyday life. Thank you Jennifer for a truly inspiring book.

Lovely read
I enjoyed reading this book very much. As expected it’s a “at home “ edition of a previous book by Jennifer L. Scott, loaded with advice, anecdotes and motivation.

This book im sad to say is not a patch on the first ...
This book im sad to say is not a patch on the first one..i thought as it was called at home with madame chic their would be more about the lovely family Jennifer stayed with.don't get me wrong it is a good read ,but for me the last one I could not put down.I just wished it had more about the lovely two family's Jennifer so talked about in her first book and had more detail of how each family lived,worked,played,dressed,etc...

We have forgotten the art of living
A lot of this is common sense... Or rather things we know, but has gotten squashed away to make room for unimportant stuff. I learned this yrs ago, and it talks about this in here.... Make everything you do count, don't wait for high days and holidays to make things special. Use your favourite pufume to wash the dishes in. Use your best cups and saucers for that cuppa when you get in from the school run. That delishious smellimg bubble bath you got for christmas, use it? Don't save it for that perfect occasion, that doesn't happen, or if it does, the fragrance has gone by the time you do... Basically live it now, do it, experience it all, now. Life's the journeys and not the odd destination here and there. There's lots more in the book of value. Like I said, I had this epiphany years ago, but still not soon enough!

Another great book from Ms.Scott. I would recommend reading her first book, 20 Lessons I Learned from Madame Chic, before reading this one. I find it helpful, especially when she references that book and it's a good base to start with. I enjoyed more useful tips and suggestions for being a connoisseur of daily life. There are many references to someone who has the ability to stay-at-home or work from home, so one may not relate to that if you are a full-time career woman or at a different stage in your life. There are also quite a few examples of home life including small children, so you may not need this information, but this is from Ms. Scott's experiences, so it makes sense and some of these tips and suggestions may still be applicable to your own life if you tweak them to your own situation. I thoroughly enjoyed ways to prepare for different meals - alone or with guests or for special occasions and / or different times of day. Recipes are great along with other suggestions of what to food and drinks to serve and how to set the table and prepare your home for yourself, family and guests are useful and fun. Ms. Scott does a great job describing, explaining and providing examples for living a chic life. If you are in search of more stories of Ms.Scott's time in France, specifically at the Chic residence, you will be a little disappointed, as this book is more about what Ms.Scott does at home in California. I think of Madame Chic in the first book as Ms.Scott's host in Paris, and Madame Chic in this book as Ms.Scott herself. I'm not sure if that's correct, but it makes sense to me to think of it that way. We can all be Madame Chic, too. The book jacket is darling and the pages and layout are nice. It would be a lovely book to leave on a table in a guest room or give as a gift. It's a fairly quick and easy read and leaves you feeling inspired and happy with all of the positive writing and great ideas to improve your everyday life at home. I am looking forward to reading what else Ms.Scott has to share with us in her third book coming out later this year!

Ich habe auch das erste Buch von Madame Chic gelesen, welches mir besser gefallen hat. Irgendwie hab ich mir von diesem Buch mehr versprochen.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. My parents came from a village in Russia and simply had learned how to survive - etiquette was not needed. When they moved to the States, they had to take some time adjusting to a much different lifestyle. What I learned from them are all the very important things of life and I’m forever grateful to them. Etiquette is something that’s very relevant to me so I’m very thankful to have found these books as I have nobody else to teach me. I’m reading them slowly, one step at a time and changing my life where it really needs to be changed as I go. Thank you Jennifer, you’re literally a God-send!
