A wonderful read. These days there are so many books, podcasts and videos with different versions of history. Probably this book is also one of them trying to build a different narrative. But the book got me excited to study and research more on a version of history which is not discussed as much, and hardly mentioned in school history books. So I think the book has done its job well, has built curiosity in me to learn more.

Good exposition of the not popularized component of the freedom movement. Only 4* not because of quality of writing or the research; only because the narrative is focused on Bengal, Punjab and the erstwhile Bombay Presidency. The whole swathe of Madras Presidency unrest doesn’t find any serious coverage.
