Not a bad gauge and base. It did what I needed it to do

Needs stronger magnet

It worked! Magnet could be alittle stronger
Only thing that could have made it alittle bit better is a slightly wiser base and stronger magnet. Used it to check end play on a rear wheel bearing of a 1976 Mack truck. The base just for on the outside edges of the hub. Due to the decreased in surface area that it was attaching too it was alittle precarious. It WORKED so that is what mattered.

Used it to set the backlash on my differential
I used this to set the backlash on my differential today - not too difficult to figure out. The magnetic base works nicely and held onto my differential very well. It comes with a good case so the tool won't get damaged from being tossed around loosely. While I'm not sure how accurate it is, it seemed to do the job effectively to measure the backlash of my differential, so I'm happy.
