An informative guide from NHS doctor Zoe Williams on puberty, body changes, periods, and more. Helps navigate this exciting but confusing time with confidence. Review: Definitely recommend for any inquisitive child. - My granddaughter really likes ready this, it can answer some of the questions that they didn’t even think of, a must for any parent. Illustrations are child friendly without being childish. It tackles very interesting subjects that every child queries some way or another. Review: Really useful book! - I bought this recently for my 11yo daughter to read before she starts secondary school. She initially rolled her eyes at my when it arrived so I put it on her bookshelf knowing that she would look at it when she wanted to. And she has been engrossed in it every night before bed over the last week! It’s a lovely book, pitched just right and full of useful info but not too overwhelming and not boring. Moreover it’s brimming with positivity about puberty getting better, about how to feel good and about celebrating our body differences rather than viewing our bodies in a negative way. My daughter is now reading me parts of the book and talking to me about different things in it which is lovely. I’m 42 and I wish I’d had a book like this to help me navigate growing up. Thank you Dr Zoe for your hard work writing this book - it’s great (when we have finished with it we will probably donate it to her school library so that everyone can read it!)

Perfect book for growing up
Brought this for my granddaughter so she could read it at her leisure and understand changes and not to be worried the book explains it all very well and also explains that every one is different in this social climate of being perfect this explains every one is different and that is ok

Great book but one scary cartoon lets it down
A really wonderful book but I would ask the publisher to review the cartoons. My daughter is 9 and still quite literal in her mindset as are many girls her age. She found the book really good but the cartoon on page 15 has absolutely terrified her. She thought she was going to get a hole in her face with blood spurting out of it when she starts puberty. It’s a jarring image even as an adult and is the main memory I have of it, which is a shame as it’s an otherwise terrific book that I would highly recommend.

very informative
I brought this for my 9year old granddaughter so she does not go blindingly into what is going to happen to her in the next few years. It tells you all about your body with easy to see diagrams. It covers all aspects of both physical and mental changes that will happen. I wish books like this were around when I was young I had to rely on an older sister.

Handbook to life
Where was Dr Zoe when I was growing up? I bough this book for my granddaughter and the audible for myself. Thank you Dr Zoe for this book it should be a textbook in every school. Easy to read and listen to, so much so it was like having my own private conversation about what to expect as I grow up! The illustrations were spot on depicting the world around us. Again thank you for making it easy to start that conversation.

Ok but not great.
It’s ok, not anything amazing and I can’t say it is my best find. I had high hopes but I feel the glossary is very poor with only a couple of words in it and there are so many new words that my daughter doesn’t know or understand so it would have been nice for her to have a bit of an explanation. I also felt it didn’t go into detail enough. It was very basic and there were many things I felt important that weren’t covered in this book.
