Very useful book, well written and beautiful!

It seems very informative - a better review will be after we actually use it for our trip.

Very high level, lacking detail. Older guides included specific sections on places to stay, things to see, restaurants etc. This reads like an in flight magazine. Returned.

Lonely planet is my go to. I did the walking tour in Cartagena and even stayed at the recommended hotel. Perfect for solo female traveler.

I take a Lonely Planet with me wherever I go. Columbia was no exception and once again they came through for me. Even though I had not done nearly enough preplanning, this book enabled me to assemble fun activities and dining each day. I appreciate the background and history they provide for the various destinations. They also recommended side trips I would not have thought of. This guide also gives nice recommendations for time to spend at each place. I recommend this is you are headed to Colombia, which I recommend as well.

Lonely Planet has gotten less useful over the years. I understand the Internet makes packing the books with details somewhat redundant, but it's been abbreviated so much there's a lot of work for you to do. The detailed maps are missing, and descriptions are sparse. For even big cities, only two or three places to stay may be recommended. Having "field tested" LP in Colombia and Ecuador, I'm not buy them again.

Gran cambio de formato y contenido con respecto a las guías Lonely Planet a peor: - Recorte de datos prácticos: no hay casi información sobre alojamientos, restaurantes, transporte público, planos/mapas - Recorte de datos culturales: desapareció la sección de historia y folclore, y la sección de gastronomía queda super reducida - A lo largo de la guía hay referencias a la web para ampliar información. Si decido comprarme una guía impresa es para no tener que depender de internet, poder subrayar y tener toda la información sin usar pantallas. La verdad es que me decepcionó mucho... no la devolví por falta de tiempo :( Espero que Lonely Planet recapacite y las guías vuelvan a su formato habitual, si no, habrán perdido a una fiel cliente (y seguro que a much@s más).

Jahrelang nutzte ich auf diversen Reisen die Lonely Planet-Reiseführer, besonders die Transport-Abschnitte und die ungewöhnlicheren Ziele und Wege haben mich nie enttäuscht. Umso trauriger war ich, als ich diesen Kolumbien-Reiseführer in Händen hielt. Für mich ist der Reiseführer Kolumbien so nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Kaum Informationen, dafür mehr Fotos. Deutlich dünner als die Ausgabe davor, die ich rege vor Ort genutzt habe. Eigentlich werden nur noch die Massentourismus-Ziele abgehandelt, dafür brauche ich aber keinen Reiseführer. Die nun erscheinenden neuen Ausgaben aller Reiseführer von Lonely Planet haben offenbar ein neues Konzept. Die Rezensionen sind eindeutig! Wenn es dabei bleibt, verabschiede ich mich in Zukunft von Lonely Planet. Aktuell besorge ich mir für die nächsten geplanten Urlaubsziele noch die letzten Ausgaben.

The lonely planet never disappoints. It’s full of incredible information and very well sectioned.
