It has only been a few days, since I have been using this electric stove; however, it works very well. I also like the fact that it is light weight, portable, and does not take too much space. I only wish the knobs were not as protruding, but, at the same time, I wouldn’t want them to be so flat that I would have to struggle to operate them. It also looks very nice!

The stove I inherited from the previous tenant died a while ago, and my landlord doesn't repace appliances, so I was cooking with a beat up hotplate from a charity shop. The element in the main burner stopped working, so I found this reasonably priced ($19) Proctor Silex one. I like to buy U.S.-made products but who knows if it was made here, right? (It's delivered by UPS.) It's a bit flimsy, but I've cooked all kinds of things for a week, now, and it functions well. One burner is 1000 watts, the other is 1100 watts. The instructions say not to use other high wattage things on the same circuit when you're cooking. And not to use more than 60 minutes within a 2-hr period. Maybe it will overheat the element? It has a very short cord, apparently so you avoid tripping on it, but that means you need to put this near a plug at the same height as the hotplate, but not closer than 4 inches to anything else. I barely reached my plug. (BTW, the old stove is disconnected.) There are no temp settings, so you have to figure out how far up to turn the knob for whatever you're cooking. If you start halfway and gradually increase, you're less likely to burn the food. See my video.

it cools down quick after use and stows away in small places if needed. the temp control doesnt have numbers or "hi/lo". Its difficult to get exactly the right temp on burners. Like the 700w burner on high is perfect for cooking eggs. The 1000w burner on high is great for boiling water. And turning the dial on the 1000w burner just a couple millimeters down from high puts it at the right temp for cooking eggs. You just kinda have to guess. UPDATE: We have had the burner for almost 2 years now. About 6 months ago or longer, the dial for the 700w burner stopped working because it wore down inside the dial and the peg doesnt fit in the hole anymore (in the picture you can kinda tell that it is stripped or melted more round, so the shape of the peg doesnt catch in the dial). And just in the last week or two, the 1000w burner stopped working/heating all together. I don’t know how much longer this will last but we may have to get a new burner..

I've been using this hot plate for about a week now. I've moved into a much smaller place due to finances, and the place has no kitchen to speak of. It has a fridge, and counter space. That said, I've used this guy for boiling water, making hot sandwiches, heating up spaghetti sauce, making garlic toast and the like. It boils water quickly on the higher watt burner, along with heating up sauces, and I've used the lower watt burner for making hot sandwiches and garlic toast with good results. I haven't made a mess yet, but I tested how high the burners lift for cleaning, and it seems like they lift up high enough. I would recommend this hot plate, based on my experiences so far.
